Alterac Valley in Classic

I’m pretty bummed about this, one of the things i’ve been hyping my friends on is the classic AV. I hope you reconsider and take us back, at least at the start to an earlier version of AV. I really miss those long epic battles and the bosses. I miss when it was dangerous to wander around the map alone because the NPC’s would mess you up.

Does that mean that there can still be long AVs? Is the Zerg method going to be better for honor/hr?

its pretty much zerg only, good luck having enough time to finish any of the quests

Great stuff guys, keep the updates coming, cant wait!!

Super disappointed. I never got to play vanilla and my buddies have been hyping up the old AV. I was excited to get into a long drawn out war. Its pretty sad I’ll never get to have that experience.

You didn’t do AV for honor grind. You did it for rep to get some pre raid BiS gear. In old AV you could exalted in a single match. With 1.12 it will take a whole BG weekend.
I mean, you did get honor but it’s very inefficient compared to wsg.

Not a deal breaker, however this is strike one, for me. This is EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. This is not authentic vanilla experience. The community does not want a zerg fest. They want a WAR! Give the community what they want. You even linked threads where the community clearly favors previous versions of AV over 1.12 AV. So maybe, I dont know, actually read the threads you linked in your update?!

Last week you restored our confidence by recreating a more authentic experience with 6 content phases opposed to 4 (THANK YOU <3333, seriously THANK YOU)

Then you decided to go full retard this week, based off results.

This is fundamental ignorance. This is lazy. This is cheap. Considering ACTVI grossed 4.93 BILLION dollars in 2018.

What a sorry waste of an update, you cretins should be ashamed of yourself.

Exactly this.
This should be reposted in every discussion forum on this topic. Well said. Someone take this to Twitter please.

I remember the blue post way back in TBC or Wrath where Blizzard basically stated that zerg AV was properly tuned. I had hoped that the Classic dev team would realize the stupidity of that statement and either correct the problem, or tell us straight that they’re keeping 1.12 for technical or business reasons. Guess that was too much to ask.

This decision ensures that I won’t be participating in AV. Very disappointing.

So, you believe whatever Blizzard tells you?

please reconsider, we can basically play 1.12 AV on retail, can we at least get a version with korak included for classic, those were some good times

So I’m a little torn about this. It makes sense that Classic, being on the 1.12 patch, would have the exact 1.12 Alterac Valley.

But it also makes me sad that our entry point into WoW Classic will be after some stuff has been removed from the game.

I guess there’s no pleasing everyone, but I personally would really like it if Korrak and the other elements that were removed from Alterac Valley prior to 1.12 were present for a while at least - perhaps up until the corresponding phase of the content release schedule, and then removed afterwards.

Here is a straw poll trying to get a rough idea of what people think of today’s news on AV. After commenting vote in the straw poll and lets try and get some numbers

part of classic is being able to experience old vanilla content and youre telling me youre making it so nobody can ever experience original AV again

Yes, we do.

That’s fine. You do realize that you guys are working on Classic and not retail, right? One of the things people talk about most when they reminisce about vanilla is OLD AV. 1.12 AV is new AV without reinforcements.

Thralls Balls! This is the War I’ve been waiting for.

We are progressively releasing raids. We are progressively releasing items. Why can’t we progressively patch Alterac Valley so everyone can experience the epicness? Is it too difficult to code by our EARLY summer release?
