Alterac Valley in Classic

Lmao imagine removing things from your game.

I loved when you guys removed the old dead mines and scarlet monastery. I was super excited when you guys removed the old SFK, oh and removing the old 60 version of naxx and all of the tier 3 armor sets and then using them as a gold sink was awesome!

“We had to move the old naxx to Northrend because it doesn’t make sense for it to be two different places at once… but dalaran can be in two places at once and your character who has saved the planet six times over forgets how to fly every two years”

Hopefully the developers are still listening, I thought these Class Developers had honor and integrity and not just throw in Patch 1.12 because it is easy and convenient to throw in.

WE WANT THE 1.5 PATCH!

Semper Fi! :us:

There was a brief period in mid-TBC when some changes to AV suddenly made it competitive ahead and Horde were able to win by holding a choke point (actual pvp).

What happened? Alliance players whined incessantly on the forums because AV was no longer an automatic win for them. At some point, there was considerable effort by Alliance to boycott the BG entirely, so Blizzard had to revert the changes.

Back to the zerg.

I would have prefered the choice be “1.12 or an unnerfed version”, as the major nerfs began at 1.8.
Not to mention you are polling on the wow forum which is predominately retail players.

Wow so much negativity, will you all just relax. It’s just a video game and I guarantee most people will still have fun with it even with 1.12 AV. Blizzard said they were using 1.12 as the patch to build classic with a long time ago, so why is this a surprise to anyone? Just be glad you are getting anything and show some gratefulness.

The Classic team is doing a great job, they can’t make everyone happy. What is the best version of classic wow is entirely SUBJECTIVE and someone will always be disappointed no matter what decision they end up making with any aspect of this project.

Keep up the good work Classic team! And don’t let the vocal minority of Negative Nancys ruin your vision.

I’m looking at my calendar wishing this was April 1st, and this was just some prank. :disappointed:

what work exactly are you giving praise to? so far it seems like they havent done anything, and could have released the game over a year ago.

come on guys, we get one shot at rereleasing classic lets do it right!!

Doesn’t even have to be then since bgs aren’t going to be at launch.

Just knowing we get old AV back is good enough for me. So long reinforcements. I wont miss you.

You are proving my point. “Let’s do it right”
Who is defining what “right” is in this case?
Some people want the 1.12 version of AV, does that mean they are wrong in liking that version? Your argument is extremely flawed.

Try to think outside of your narrow view of reality. What’s right for you isn’t necessarily right for everyone else.

No, they took the easy way out. Patch 1.12 for AV is not the true experience for our veteran AV players.

Looking through your profile, it seems you never played Classic, so how do you know we like or what we want? I hate it when people say “It’s a video game” crap…

Bottom line do it right or don’t do it at all. Since I personally PvP through 9/10 of my way in Vanilla BGs once they were released and ranked up to Marshal, I KNOW what I LIKE and what I want and Patch 1.12 for AV is NOT IT. I am happy with patch 1.12 with other Classic issues, but NOT AV.

They said it themselves, they don’t have to go with 1.12, but they are because it is cheaper and easier instead of what the TRUE Classic AV players want.

I am defining it, as 1.12 AV was the introduction to the term Welfare Epics. The goodbye patch to Vanilla. Where everything is nerfed and easy and HEY EVERYONE TODAY IS FREE PIZZA DAY! COME JOIN AV FOR FREE EPICS!!!

My most sincere condolences to all the Syndicate, Winterax Trolls, and Gnolls who never even had a chance for their voices to be heard on WoW classic.

Lmao imagine removing things from your game.

Is that a realistic comparison? Are the raids that are being released progressively also being regressed in patches? Same with item release, are they releasing items from older patches?

Old AV with 1.12 talents? Where does it end if that’s the route they take? Who is to say what components of the game should be as they existed in 1.12 and which should be as they existed in prior patches? I think it’s better to either do 100% true progression and go through all patches or keep it consistent. At least with keeping AV at 1.12, we get some consistency instead of a Frankenstein game that’s got pieces from all different patches, that would be less faithful to vanilla than keeping everything at 1.12. By sticking with 1.12 game systems, you can say you have a faithful reproduction of the 1.12 version of the game.

“Private Servers” seems the be the correct answer yet again =\

Just going by your character’s level, I would not trust your opinion of what is “right”.

Welp, there goes one of the best things about classic. My post history reflects im genuinely very positive about classic, but this announcement is pretty sad. I’m sure it has been brought up (over and over again, but i cant scroll through 300 comments just to see), but the consequence of av 1.12 is catastrophic to ‘gameplay’.

Here is what happens from the horde perspective (i was alliance up to around 1.8 on EU, then horde to mid TBC).

Queue pops, you enter battleground. Some lone hero says ‘defend galv’. Twenty people say ‘ffs, just let them win’. 5 or 6 people try and hold the pallys steaming to drek at IB, they get one spawn, probably at fwgy which is initially skipped, 5 or so go kill bal, then charge to sp. Around ten horde are streaming to stormpike. By now, alliance has tagged the relief hut so anyone dead now resses at the cave. They join the 15 or so AFKers and wait for the invariable alliance win. The horde advance at stormpike is usually wiped out by a few rogues porting ack and recapping stormpike. Now everyone is in the cave. A few will go fish. One or two will try and get their trinket. But mostly, no ones playing the actual game. Maybe three or four will desperately try to get through to the relief hut or trinket back, but once the relief hut falls, a hunter will run in, pull the warmasters, feign death causing a despawn, and then everyone will zerg in and kill the boss. The end.

Well, not quite, because as it goes on fewer and fewer horde will participate. And those that do will more often than not run through the motions or AKCave.

It’s a dispiriting, tedious experience. Once in a while through the force of sheer magic, enough defenders will enter the game and will valiantly destroy the initial alliance zerg. However, more than likely the sheer numbers of horde not participating will result in an alliance victory and everyone moaning about how this PROVES its a waste of time and we should have just let them win from the start. Those people will then never shut up about their wasted 45 minutes in every other AV they join.

Sure, they will grind out their marks. But you might has well have just given people a token for queueing and let them go on their way before the battle begins. The actual point of ‘playing’ AV doesnt exist for them. It’s just a time v honor grind. Spending as little time as possible, results in maximum honor yield (or tokens, i forget when we switched, but its the same difference).
