Do you want a dumbed down AV or the original? If you want to recreate something then yes, in this case, since they don’t have the data, they might have to do some research and ask their old employees for input. This is not an easy job, but what they’re doing is completely ignoring all that work in favor of just saying, we don’t know anything, hurr durr.

Well it appears, we are shying away from the original artist band showing up to play and having to listen to a cover band instead. Shame.
I always thought the point was to experience Vanilla the way it was for those lucky enough to have been there from the start.
I wasn’t worry so much about gameplay mechanics, that is what retail players worry about.

This is the original video. It was uploaded on October 31st, 2006, which means that the latest possible patch was 1.12.2. Any condescending comments you want to make? I assume you are now going to jump onto a different reason as to why we are wrong for wanting original AV.

Just to be clear, a 3 min 40 sec AV is going to be extremely rare, even in 1.12.
I’m sure they used a known exploit at the time to get the 40 man premade in there to begin with.
I’m disappointed I can’t collect severed night elf heads.

This reeks of a corporate money man making the decision that sacrifices gameplay in favor of reducing development costs… The vast majority of the people who have posted regarding AV versions seemingly wanted the older versions of AV and an experience that is better than the dumpster fire it has become on retail…
This announcement kills any interest I had in AV for Classic, beyond begrudgingly putting up with it enough to get exalted rep items and hating every minute of it.
It does however, make me curious to see what exactly IS changing from 1.12 data from a content perspective? We where told that things would be open for debate, like UBRS group size… Yet seemingly, everything is going to be a pure 1.12 base, beyond sharding (bad), loot trading (super bad) and now itemization (admittedly super good)…

Blizzard themselves said they didn’t have the data…past 1.8 or something? It was a little earlier than 1.12.
so i guess getting the pre 1.12 warrior is definitely way too much to ask for.
the 1.12 warrior was buffed to help tanks with threat generation.

1.12 AV does not represent the epic battle people enjoyed over the majority of Vanilla - but only the tail end, with what essentially became the current retail version.
On a personal note - I ALWAYS kept a full variety of race specific pvp turn in’s in my bags - that way I could link my [Severed Night Elf Head] in /say while in neutral towns like Gagetzan to let the enemy player know I was coming for them the moment they stepped outside - this was actually something I was REALLY looking forward to doing again, and their removal actually has me pretty bummed out.

I just want to say I support the early versions of AV. I lost much of my interest once it became a race. I made lasting pvp friendships before 1.12.
