I couldn’t be any clearer with that statement, Broken. It means I don’t think it fits.
Would it stop me from playing? Hell no. Classic > BFA any day. But it would bother me because it’d be not just historically inaccurate, but also potentially problematic with regards to how player spells and talents are set up.
And you have absolutely zero first hand experience with either to make a call like that. Nothing, nada, zilch. You have provided not a shred of evidence that the instance BG called AV in an early state would have the slightest impact on the game outside of that instance. Excuse me, beyond the fact that “you’d know it’s there”. You deserve every ounce of derision you’ve earned as a result of your injecting yourself into subjects of which you’ve no knowledge and then trolling them.
In what way would it possibly effect the game outside of the instanced BG?
What “retuning” would be required, and what elements, and why? And since you would not be playing it, how would it impact you beyond your “knowing it’s there”?
That’s the thing, I don’t know the specifics. But it’s something I can easily see being required.
You forget, 1.5 AV was designed at a time when 1.5 talents and spells were in use. And those 1.5 talents and spells were balanced around literally EVERYTHING in the game, not just AV.
If you’re going to change one aspect of the game to an earlier state, you’ll have to retune things especially if stat changes took effect since the last time that game mode was live. And I do not trust Blizzard when it comes to tampering with that data.
Seriously, you cannot even come up with one possible issue with having 1.12 talents in early AV? Yet you are happy enough to claim that “retuning would be required” because it is “potentially problematic with regards to how player spells and talents are set up”, yet you cannot give a single example?
That IS the issue. 1.5 AV was meant for 1.5 talents and player abilities. Not 1.12 ones.
It’d either be too easy or too hard, but either way it would NOT be even close to “authentic” for anyone without a retune. And even THAT will be inauthentic.
WHAT is the issue? That you cannot manage a single solitary example?
Are you this staunchly opposed to players having 1.12 talents when MC is released? And when Onyxia is released? And when BWL is released? Do you imagine they are “retuning” those dungeons for 1.12 talents?
No, but I doubt very many people care nearly as much about those as you guys care about your pre-1.12 AV. I’m just trying to look out for you.
If you think having 1.12 talents and 1.5 AV is fine, screw it. Go for it, I’m happy for you. But don’t yell at me for at least TRYING to take your side somewhat.
Never mind the fact I don’t trust Blizzard to NOT screw up any implementation of 1.5 AV in the 1.12 environment somehow, nor do I believe that it historically fits to begin with.
Besides… all those dungeons and raids still existed in 1.12 and were run regularly. 1.5 AV did not.
Are you for real? There were entire threads decrying 1.12 talents and gear in regard to pre-naxx content. The subject has been discussed at LENGTH. Threat mechanic changed threat management VASTLY by 1.12, such that pure DPS classes no longer had to care much at all about going all out on meters and drawing agro from tanks. Since DPS could go full bore, they pulled much further ahead of hybrid DPS classes. These are examples of how 1.12 talents and gear do a disservice to early raid and dungeon content.
And those dungeons and raids were easy mode due to it and a shadow of their original difficulty. Their AUTHENTIC difficulty.
But they were still being run at the time, and I’d wager that’s when they saw the most players to boot.
Nobody played 1.5 AV during 1.12 because there WAS no 1.5 AV in 1.12. So, that right there is far more inauthentic than 1.12 talents being used for MC, BWL, etc.
If you get 1.5 AV somehow, good for you. I hope it’s the full authentic data set and not some half-baked recreation like you get on pservers. I’ll even give it a go once just to see if the legends were true.
I just wouldn’t count on it. For your sanity’s sake. We were lucky to get Classic, and I’m not in the habit of looking gift horses in the mouth or trying to push my luck.
