Alterac Valley in Classic

Then don’t dilute it by adding more to it.

I would call 1.12 av being in the game diluting it. I never said i wouldn’t mind a frankenpatch. I would like early hunter pets ect but those arent as big a deal to me to fight over as 1.8 av. Im just not letting you tell me were not getting one as a reason for not adding 1.x av when we are in fact getting a frankenpatch.

No.

Even with the changes we do have, we have enough of 1.12 left in 1.13 to more or less convince people that 1.13 is just an alternative patch after 1.12 without going into TBC.

When you start calling for Blizzard to essentially do EXACTLY what private servers do, verbatim, with no friggin’ exceptions whatsoever, that’s where I draw the line.

A pre-1.12 AV should never be in a patch based on 1.12. Would it have been awesome to see, as someone who’s never played it? Yes. But I do NOT believe that its inclusion would be a good idea, purely on the basis of retaining what authenticity Classic has left.

For you, the authenticity is about Classic as a whole. That’s fine. I prefer to think of it on a purely patch basis. And putting 1.5 AV, or a half-baked recreation of it because the data’s gone, into a 1.12 environment is way farther from authentic to me than any of the back-end things Blizzard’s had to do because it’s not 2006 anymore.

In a vacuum disregarding classic vanilla ect What version of AV do you think is the most fun and enjoyable as it appeared in vanilla. Also why do we need to convince people 1.13 is an alternative patch to 1.12? As most people remember av it was the earlier versions that stuck with people not 1.12.

Honestly, I have no real horse in this race. Like I said, I’d have been intrigued to check out 1.5 AV. I’m no PVP’er.

But I still don’t think Frankenpatching the game even more than it already is is a good idea. You need to stop somewhere. Here’s as good a place as any before it.

The only reason i ask is if it wouldnt greatly effect your enjoyment of the actual game and not from a purity of patch perspective but from a gameplay one i dont see why we cant have at the very least a 1.x av week end or something along those lines.

Thank you for the discussion. Its been nice to see points other than the ones im used to seeing on this thread.

It’s a difference in philosophy, really.

I’d still play, sure, but if I knew that I’d be playing basically a Blizzard version of a private server, that’d put a damper on my enjoyment a bit.

I didn’t welcome Blizzard’s announcement of Classic hoping for more of what I’d abandoned pservers for doing. I welcomed it hoping for a straight Blizzard product, with any concessions needed to make it actually run on their modern back-end.

This is why I’m against mandatory seasons as well, for the record. I want to keep my characters, not lose them because the game reset.

Rob, buddy, why are you feeding the troll?

after all this you come in and say “I’m no pvp’er” ?
Why are you even in this conversation then ?

Because like I said, I don’t want Classic to become even more of a Frankenpatch than it already is.

We have pservers for that.

But if you don’t ever go into AV then how does that impact you ?

Seriously in those threads it’s like 90% yes we want this, 9% who cares / i didn’t even know this was an issue, and then 1% troll. There’s no argument you can make they won’t bash so just ignore them.

It impacts me because I know it’s there.

I didn’t come to Blizzard for Classic just to have them pull pserver shenanigans and re-customize a single patch to encompass ALL patches. I wanted an authentic experience.

Quoted for absurdity.

Yes you were.

Daily reminder that this is a skeleton crew of devs patching 1.12 onto current infastructure, not rebuilding any content that doesn’t exist in 1.12.
They’re not bringing back anything pre-1.12. Not even stats for weapons. Why would they do a massive, from scratch build of AV that probably doesn’t even exist anymore?
This is to save their IP so they can litigate against private servers, and hey, a little extra money. This isn’t to bring the best classic experience to players. At. All.

The truth hurts so much… I just want a chance to play the game I used to love again. Greed man, never leave a dime on the table.

I guess i got drawn into thinking maybe he was done trolling, legit thought he maybe could be swayed to our side or at the very least be compromised with but seeing the last couple posts I was wrong lol

Really? You thought I’d just be okay with Blizzard pulling a pserver trick and making AV inaccurate to the patch they’re trying to preserve?

Sorry, but that’s not how I roll.

And again, I’m not a troll. Just because I have differing opinions doesn’t mean I’m a troll.

I thought that maybe you were done with your non sensical troll posts about av. The fact that you really dont care other than what you replied to Brockthorn is sad man. You really are a troll and a bad one at that. Now we know your whole argument is based on nothing. I actually thought you had a genuine argument going.

How is wanting to keep WoW Classic from going even more Frankenpatch than it already has, trolling?
