Alterac Valley in Classic

Doesn’t matter what a private server did. At all. It’s completely irrelevant to the discussion.

Sorry, you do not get to handwave something as “irrelevant” simply because you do not like it. They literally got closer to early AV than blizzard is willing to do, and they had a fraction of the “skeleton crew” and finances that blizzard has working toward the project.

Yea, this.

Its the same mindset that led to retail, and it worries me.

Now I can’t help but wonder if classic is just their little science experiment to test what future changes they want to make to retail, and they are hoping that once those changes are made, classic players will move back to retail, they can let classic go, and private server populations will be diminished.

Even if that is tinfoil speculation, the reasons they gave are worrisome.

I suspect the majority does not want convenient. Or easier.

Early AV was unique, and a masterpiece. Its the closest thing to capturing a true pvp war that I’ve ever experienced in a game. Why would you favor a ‘do it to get it done’ version over that?

They also created a purely BS, not-even-close version of Vanilla in the process.

The notion that you want Blizzard to do the same, complete with your choice of name, is what makes me think you’re probably the real troll here.

lol  Thanks for the laugh!

I aim to please.

But seriously though. 1.5 AV in the 1.12 environment just would not work and is pserver levels of ridiculousness.

And you know this from your extensive experience playing Wrath of the Lich King.

Indeed. Expecting that the company who designed the content originally, likely have the meeting notes and detailed change lists, vast sums of money, and 8 or more months to make changes when within vanilla such sweeping changes were routine from patch to patch… totally just me “trolling”

You REALLY think they still have all that?

Have you even paid attention to them?

We’re getting 1.12 AV because Blizzard basically said the earlier ones were too hard for us…

“too many NPCs and those NPCs were hard to kill” is what they stated in the blue post when they said we were getting 1.12.

No that isnt trolling but that’s not what you’re about , All of your posts in the thread are but muh nO ChAnGes you said it when i wanted stuff now that you want stuff hahahaha thats trolling

I thought #NoChanges was the general rule of being a Classic enthusiast, otherwise go back to that crapfest that is Retail?

Am I somehow wrong about that?

In the context you use it not at all. No changes was no changes from outside of vanilla nothing after 1.12. But you know that. You just choose to strawman as part of your troll.

You’re right. It DOES mean that.

But I also don’t agree with taking the private server approach and Frankenpatching Classic.

At least they didn’t layer.

You think you do but you don’t, all over again. Let us play the proper AV. If people want the watered down 1.12 version down the road, fair enough. But for people to never be able to experience the earlier chaotic versions goes against the point of this project completely.

Then why do you continuously mischaracterize the argument then? Oh yeah your trolling. Classic is already going to be a frankenpatch in regard to raids ect… I would see your argument as having merit (i still would want 1.8 av btw) if they were going full on 1.12 with everything at the start like naxx but to say we cant have 1.x av would make it a Frankenpatch when ignoring that is mental gymnastics.

It’s not a “Frankenpatch.” They’re porting it to the modern infrastructure and implementing minor things to facilitate their 2019 business practices and keep people from downloading addons that already do the same job without compromising the experience.

That’s not a “Frankenpatch,” that’s just a patch.

Is it 100% from the start patch 1.12? Having gear and skills at 1.12 while gating content and items is a frankenpatch.

Not really. It’s just a phased content rollout.

A patch means you’d actually need to release a patch for the game. Phased content rollouts, theoretically, have no such requirement and can simply be hotfixed in or triggered.

That in itself is also a private server thing but frankly, I’m okay with this one since there’s really no other way to do it that’ll keep the “muh prestige!” elitists happy.

Phased content rollout= frankenpatch. The term refers to elements from different patches that weren’t in the game at the same time in vanilla due to patching being in the game at the same time in classic. Thats exactly what were getting.
