Alterac Valley Adjustments Incoming

Another victory for the Horde.

Yay!

Not sure they caved in immediately, silly holidays. But defiantly after looking at the logs and reading the forums they came to a conclusion that somethings needed to be adjusted. P2 was strictly a PvP server issue and people chose those servers got what they should of even if unbalanced expected, wPvP.

As far as BGs, the premade teams did hurt both sides and a few included to bash there lower level faction players that just wanted to have fun. Not sure if PvE and PvP players join the same BG (I assume so) but games that started 10-15 vs. 40 definitely needed attention and that was because of premade teams screwing with the game logic and causing unfair match’s.

While they haven’t mentioned fixing war master / prospector / marshals yet which is in a later patch that came out during TBC, breaking premade teams might slow down the 7-8 minute match because of the paladin pull. Already have seen more true pug match’s that run 20-30 minutes where its no longer a guaranteed win for wither side, more like 50-50 which would be what should of happened from day 1.

The Horde mentality during that time was pull Belinda + LTs roll over and start another match because it was a efficient way to gain more honor for quick queue times (I didn’t agree with this hence when I hit exalted on day 3 quit PvPing). When the queue times crept up as more Alliance dropped out of the queue it became more efficient to turtle since we only average about 1 game a hour. However the premade teams eliminate the chance to turtle, messing with Alliance and Horde and send a negative message that forced Blizzard to re-act in a way some didn’t like and some say they talked Blizzard out of even more potential changes.

They certainly did. They released BGs early.

Might try looking outside your own server

So we need to fix the honor system?

Agreed.

Yep, and the Alliance will be absolutely devastated trying to get acquainted to it. Can’t wait.

alliance will just switch to wsg and now horde will have 2-3hour queues for av. These problems will continue to get worse until people start either re rolling alliance or blizzard steps in and puts in server balancing mechanics IE faction based queues based on opposing factions size.

And faster wsg q times with an even compacity to also form premades.

Great change.

i guess… your wsg queues will now be 40 minutes, maybe more. those of you horde who are ranking are much higher than those of the alliance trying to rank. so wsg queues will also be terrible.

Edit *** if they balanced servers both alliance and horde would have around 5 minute queues, wouldn’t that be nice?

Did you stop to think of the possibility that pugs will also q for fun. 5 man av groups will also q for fun.

I havent done any bg’s in 3 weeks. This change will see me atleast q a few for fun.

All I have to say at this point is that the PvP system is clearly the downfall of Classic. Innumerable players have quit because of it. The forums have rarely, if ever, been more hostile, and I’ve been on them for a long time. It’s a terrible, terrible system that promotes an endless grind that can’t be fun because honor/hour is everything if you want meaningful rewards, and pushes “rankers” to odds with everyone else.

The issue is these players feeling compelled to rank. I spent the majority of vanilla in premade wsg/ab because it was fun - ranking up was a side push. Players of today have forgotten the fun aspect of objective based pvp and focus solely on the rewards.

The real issue of ranking today is the structure of premade ranking groups - they are the ones setting brackets that players have to follow - a system designed to control the ranking system.

Play for fun, rank will come naturally.

If you’re going to do this, and I’m more than fine with these changes, fix the wall horde can run up in the back of the Alliance base. The whole #nochanges is already gone, and with these changes you’re moving further away anyways. It’s ridiculous to leave that in place while nibbling around the edges about addressing “more prominent pain points and unfortunate behaviors” when you ignore a blatant bug/cheat.

If it’s left in, I guess horde having an easy way to steal Stormpike Aid Station is just “the substance of the battleground.”

blizzard actually working ? lol ok man, ever since gayivison came to be they’ve been lazy, so i doubt we will see any real coding for classic.

Isn’t there a back door in the horde base as well? Also, what about the huts that alliance can hide in from the guards?

To a Paladin, stunning is everything.

So much for no changes.

Hello!
I am not a native english speaker, I play on European realms. Can someone please for me interpret this sentence as Alterac Valley in Europe is not playable anymore last 3 weeks. Any single game starts 10-15 vs 40 and sometimes do not fill even after 10 minutes.

I stopped playing last week till I read the announcement of AV fixes. I liked all the other fixes, but could not understand totally what this sentence means. Does that means we will have equal starting numbers when game starts or it means we will not get numbers less than 20 but still games will start 20 vs 40? Thanks in advance!

The game will not start until there are at least 20 ppl. So you might still get a 20 v 40 start after the change next week.
