Alt overload

Does anyone have this sense of alt overload? I feel like I’m constantly trying to balance my toons gear and levels out. All while I never really get to delve into a class it seems because I’m so focused on playing a lot of them? Like does anyone have this feeling? I’m trying to focus more on a single toon currently, but with warbands and everything it’s hard to ignore other alts…

fortunately no

I have zero alts

No.

I’m mostly ignoring alts because the crest catch up is abominable.

So stop doing that.

At least it exists, so does profession knowledge catch up, compared to DF.

This is a terrible mindset to carry. This is the worst rendition of the crest system since its inception.

It demands you pour hundreds of hour PER alt to catch up in Gilded and Runed crests. That’s degenerate game design.

I have super casual alts but the stuff that’s most important/enjoyable to me in game is all stuff that you need to focus for, to each their own.

So do that. Pretty simple.

Why?

Nah. You just run higher difficulty content for higher level gear so you require fewer crests in the first place

i’m something of an alt-oholic myself, but only focusing on level 10-13 level locked twinks at the moment so it’s a lil easier to deal with since all you really need to do is get some decent drops then all set.

I’ll probably play my alts more during S2 delves. I’m using this time right now to level all of them to 80, so not that focused on what their gear looks like.

I’m chillin’ in Delves and world content. I’ve got five level 80s, two of which I don’t much pay attention to. The other three are about on par. I’m good.

I find that with every new expansion it would be too daunting to gear up even my most base 13 main characters, doing mostly 3-5 then keeping the rest in questing and new zone catch up gear with each new season.

This time I chose to stop going for the new expansion. I hoarded enough Dalaran Defender gear to fill out up to 52 characters so once they reach max level of 70, they have a minimum of ilevel 480 ready for them. I can still do Heroic and Mythic 0 dungeons up to Dragonflight and Timewalking dungeons to change or upgrade.

To what end

Okay but why

I’ve been having this problem with TWW. My solution was just to play less. Because I really do want to play a bunch of alts. But I don’t want to play only WoW. It’s about managing expectations. Enjoy the alt for what it is, and don’t expect to do a lot of late game stuff with most of them.

Also having a bunch of alts has really just made me resent and dislike the Great Vault. I really think it needs to be taken out or overhauled by this point. I might have the ability to play 5 different alts, but forget filling even two slots in it on more than one of them. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

I don’t expect to have the same level of gear on alts as I do on the character I play the most. For me, warbands makes it easier to ignore other alts. I don’t necessarily have to run every class through old raids anymore.

I have my main MM Hunter and 1st alt Dest Warlock which I always play, then I decide which races, classes and specs I’m interested in and play a couple of those.

In DF it was Void Elves. This time around I’m leveling a BM Hunter and then either my Affliction Warlock or maybe a Demon Warlock. But four is enough, that’s what is comfortable for me.

I don’t gear all my alts, I just level them.
I only need one character that does all the content.

It demands nothing. If you want to cap out every alt, you have to play them. It’s not required to cap out every alt.

There is a concept of main or mains even - which you are supposed to value over all alts.
