Alphanumeric Code identification

I transferred characters between realms in tbc. All of them moved to the new realm, but two of them appear with alphanumeric codes after their names. How do I find out that these mean?

That usualy means that name is in use and needs to be changed.

I can see that could be it, but both codes are different.

Still normal.

The numbers/letters themselves are just random, they don’t mean anything. It just means that name was taken on the destination realm when transferring.

You might try reclaiming the name you had previously, but if it says it is taken you’ll need to pick a new name.

So is it safe to log into them once the gear? I’m curious, but if the transfer is still in progress I don’t want to throw a monkey wrench in the process.

If the original character still appeared on the source realm, along with the version on the destination realm, that would indicate that your transfer is still processing.

It looks like it is complete. You just need to log into the character. It does look like both names were taken by characters on that realm so you’ll need to select new names.

You’ll be prompted to select a new name when logging into the character.
