A-freaking-men. I hate the fact that horde pretty much get a free pass at messing up an Alliance team thanks to merc mode cause ya know… Poor horde, but alliance? Nah, you guys flounder when it comes to whatever.
This whole thing makes me sick.

I strongly disagree.
If people can go crazy and fight against each other for imaginary things I highly doubt that allowing cross faction Dungeoning and Raiding is going to “dilute the importance of faction choice”.
Plus we are all murder hobos together and we are kinda loosely affiliated with our factions and that many times in the past we are uniting together to face bigger threats despite our factions’ choices.
Addendum: Drops faction barriers and remove racial abilities for dungeons and raids Blizzard. Faction warfare would still continue as lore and pvp and will not be imbalancing dungeoning and raiding that usually have nothing to do with faction conflict.
I was on one of my Horde toons and looking at a map in Nazmir to see where I should go and noticed an Alliance player with a bounty. I pointed it out in general chat and there were a couple of comments about how much so-n-so hates Alliance, etc. etc. Then someone said they played both sides and the language made my little Gnomish ears turn red. Why they felt the need to be so nasty to someone who wants to see both sides of the game is beyond me.
It made me embarrassed to be playing a Horde toon, scratch that, actually playing with anyone like that. Those two are now on ignore now.
edit: grammar
Might want to take your own advice and scroll up, little fella. Most of the replies are in favor of it, or getting rid of factions altogether.
I don’t recall saying anyting about the people on the other side. All I said was I would not agree to shorter wait times in exchange for members of the other faction in the group.
I think this has been bought up since at least Mists or Warlords and when the mercenary option for battlegrounds came out there had been talk of cross-faction dungeon groups but I don’t know what became of it.
I’d personally like it if it sped up queues or allowed me to play with cross-faction friends but don’t feel it should be for current content but it’d be very invaluable for much lower level dungeons (vanilla, TBC, LK, etc).
I would think that at this point it would be in WoW’s best interest to get as many players as possible to play WITH each other. It’s the primary appeal of an MMORPG, right? Playing with other real people?
Broaden that pool of players, you might get a few folks to stick around longer.
You’re still not refuting my original point though?? Something like this would absolutely be the cause of toxic behavior, and there’s already been several examples in this thread. And apparently people already do this with mercenary mode, using it just to grief the other faction. Shouldn’t be a surprise that they’d do it in PvE content as well.
Why you’d refuse to play a video game with other gamers just because they picked a different race than you in said video game is beyond me.
I don’t know how long you have been playing this game but pretty much every major patch boss ever involves the alliance and horde teaming up in story dude.
Unlike you, I only speak for myself. Again, your original point was that all players would behave in a certain manner.
It’s a good idea. In a dungeon or raid, the faction with the least players is transformed into the other faction for that fight, just like the Alliance players on the Jaina fight in 8.1.
Most of the time you won’t know which faction the other players are really from, and it doesn’t matter anyway.
The importance of faction choice is far less than the importance of a dungeon or raid run - people play this game to have fun, not to sit on one side of an arbitrary line and hurl invective at the other.
I didn’t say all players would. I specifically said “some players.”
Could we at least have enemy mob shared between the factions? Kind of stinks to be questing and have a bunch of horde around I really rather work together with them getting quests done then slowing done their or my questing experience.
I know quest mobs and objects are shared but it would be nice if regular stuff was shared too.
It wouldn’t really bother me too much to team up with the alliance, as I view their faction from a rivalry perspective rather than outright hate.
I’d love to compete against the alliance in PvE as the better tank/DPS/Healer as a way of showing faction pride too.
How can faction choice be that important when I can have multiple toons on both factions and reap all the benefits? That only matters to people who restrict themselves to playing one faction. I just play the alliance ones when things favor alliance and switch to my horde ones when things swing the other way.
There already is no point to factions anymore.
Semper Fi!
Fighting over mob tags helps put the war in Warcraft, so we can’t get rid of that.
DKs should have been a neutral faction, then I could see this working and being a lot of fun.
But what about when we’re not in a time of war? BfA is one expansion. Factions made no sense in Legion. And they’ll likely make no sense again in the expansion that comes after BfA.
There already was no point to factions, BfA just tried to force one.
No, hippie.
And? I still want to bash an ugly orc’s skull in right afterwards.
