Allow Players To Ghost Run Into BRM Instances?

So after having another BRD group fall apart due to tank leaving after not being able to get even close to the instance. I was wondering if there is any possible solution blizz could even do that would not be too drastic of a change/against the spirit of the game. Especially since I doubt BGs will solve anything as BRM is already where the faction with superior numbers AFKs in between groups and will just do the same for BGs.

Here are my thoughts. Why not just allow players that have died in Blackrock Mountain itself just ghost walk into the instances without having to reach them alive first? The other faction can still camp/kill them for honor all the way to the mountain entrance from Thorium Point or wherever they decide to enter from but at least it would cut the corpse run time in half for most people. It’s not like it takes skill to eventually reach the instance just way more invested time than originally intended.

I don’t think it would be too drastic of a change and help reduce the level of griefing that is literally causing players to unsubscribe or re-roll PVE. IDK just a thought, maybe there is something I am not thinking of that wouldn’t make this work.

It would require significant recoding to allow rezzing in an instance where your body isn’t. Not to mention #nochanges. It’s not worth it.

always thought it was odd that this was the case but they would just be more densely populated at fp and even thirstier… lol

I would like to know why this is. We know that the world servers have communication with the instance servers because you can res at the spirit healer in the world when your corpse is in an instance - it needs to know to turn your corpse to bones and make you non-resurrectable. Regardless if you step into the instance portal while alive or while dead, you spawn at the same position.

This doesn’t sound like a technical limitation as much as it does a deliberate choice to prevent people from corpse dragging into entrances they shouldn’t be in (you could totally sneak a whole group of Alliance through the RFC portal with this) or abusing entrances to shortcut having to corpse run.

Not that I’m advocating for any changes, mind, I just want to know why this specific point was chosen for an argument against it.

it’s the game. it’s not griefing. PVE servers exist - i play on one.

I don’t have extensive experience with programming, but I did learn this…if it seems like an easy fix to the lay person, it’s probably a very difficult fix in practice.

Sometimes this is true, but as a senior in the trade, sometimes we just like to tell people that so that they reevaluate how important the task is to them. We don’t like to work on trivial things.

With a change like this a faction would not be able to control access to instances. wPvP has this as a core element.

No thanks.

Yeah I figured it wouldn’t be as simple as pushing a button but you’re probably right on it actually being a lot of work to implement now that I think on it. Not really sure on how connected instances are with rest of world but it is probably just bare minimum to put you at correct sprit healer.

No it wouldn’t. The instance portal, touch it, rez. Done.

Sounds like the most unfun solution ever.

What Horde players imagine Bliz saying: “Tough luck kid, you chose pvp rawrwrar”

What the back office IS saying to the Devs: “Even after 20-30% drop rates, we are golden. Tell the crew to keep at it for tBC and let’s break at lunch to calculate the most profit progressive phase schedule for Classic. Well done!”

What the Devs are probably saying: “Ok, whose idea was it to let all those people into mega servers again just to snag up some fresh streamer fan subs? Please please please please BGs, work…this sucks”

You just need to run as a group and change your route to get there.

You can cut the ganking in half or more if you just play differently.

Also join the world defense channel, it will give you an idea of where its NOT safe to fly.

Yes better do not mention #nochanges since that got right into the toilet the first day of Classic when Blizzard added layers and let more than 5 k players/server

And if someone drops and you try to get a replacement? Well forget it, your run is finished because no one will want to spend the 45 minutes corpse-hopping to get into BRD.

That’s when you tell them how you got there with minimal issue so they can hopefully have the same luck.

However, you just said to all run in together to reduce the ganks. So how does it work for a single replacement? Can’t really tell them, “Oh when we all ran in together it wasn’t bad so suck it up running in solo!”

Very reasonable solutions on less dense servers. YMWV on higher pop servers.

Except the increased population capacity is a change, and the huge numbers of people on Vanilla zones/maps (without sharding/crz) are overcrowding it, causing this whole mess.

Suppose we just have different definitions. I don’t think players are in the wrong for taking easy kills as the game allows and even encourages it. I’d be doing the same if I was in their position

Allow players to reroll on pve servers!

Wait, they already can do that.
