Allow characters to use names already in use

Yeah. I wanted Dilfhunter but someone else had the same original name idea. Now I would have to settle for an alt code version of Dilfhunter.

Or you know, don’t.

I didn’t create my character with a surname. I don’t want one forced on me.

Idk about all this. Names would be crazy. Also swtor has legacy names for surnames. But, you still can only have one primary name per server… so it wouldn’t solve anything.

Nah.

You’d be Salsachips

but I’d have to stomach seeing Salsachips893578935, like with people’s names in Red Dead Redemption 2 online.

It is easy to come up with a name not taken, since I’ve never had a single one taken in 15 years and 3 beta phases (well, 3 phase in vanilla and then most of the other betas.) I just make up an original name, instead of one that means something or is a joke.

My favorite names, in game, are ones like

Bradley, for a Human Paladin. I just know it is some kid who made a Human Paladin, who has the name ā€œBradleyā€ in real life. I wonder if they’d recognize imagination, if it flew through their window wrapped in a brick?

I think the same name should be used if Horde and Alliance.

I think they should just keep it as it is. Having multiple characters with the same name would get really hectic really fast.

Another game I play, the surname can be blank.

As for this game, I’m not really feeling the love for my surname of Khaz’Goroth, but it will do.

1000% THIS!

If they ever did this, those parameters would be easy filters to set up on their end thank goodness.

Surnames is a much better solution than special characters, which I dislike.

I also don’t care for some realm names, which now, act like surnames.

Also, could have the option to add a space to your name if you want. This effectively creates a surname if you want it. I realize this will make titles odd, but you would just need to use it in a way that makes sense.

Jon Snow of the Frozen Wastes

Or Leelinn the Fabulous, the Greatest Archdruid in All of Azeroth. That makes sense

It wouldn’t work. Mail is a big reason why. Most of the good names are taken but if they don’t play in a while those names get released. I recently got Bless and Divine on a high pop server, for example. I got Necromonger also, I mean really? That was free with all the Warlocks and DKs?

Surnames are terrible, it would make names common.

There would be thousands of Legolas instead of just dozens.

This would allow people to create characters with the same surname - fundamentally they could create members of your family without your knowledge.

People Just need to be more creative.

This is true, though some people’s brains aren’t geared towards creating WoW names

No… get more creative
