Irl people share the same names so do the same cause evrything good is taken these days.
This would make whispers insanity inducing to the point the Old Gods would be jealous, so no.
Let people create Surnames. Problem solved.
Yes! Then I can finally change all my characters to Salsachips!
Hell yeah bro
i liked how Champions Online did it. you set up a root name, and that was the unique one. everything else could be reused. so if two people made a char named âCookieâ, it would read as âCookie@(unique root name here)â. all mail went to the @rootname, NOT the character name.
chat also shows this rootname, so you can tell folks apart should the same names be used somewhere (suprisingly rare from what ive seen though)
AKA surname. I think most other mmoâs have some sort of variation of it.
I would like this because I want to move my character to a different server and I really want to keep the name âKaboo.â There are ways to make this work, like through surnames or using usernames for whispers and such, but I donât think Blizzard will change the way the game handles names any time soon.
Maybe they just get rid of dead accounts?
Non-paid accounts that are inactive for 2 expansions automatically get all their names released back to the public for use.
Irl people also have different addresses to send mail to, and different phone numbers to send messages to.
Yes, we can all be mortis.
How about no
This is what should be done
There are a few database reasons as to why to things with the same identifier canât exist in the same place at the same time. There are also ways around that, sort of. But it would be more work than itâs worth.
Plus I really donât need to see 500 BE DKs with the longest katana mog possible running around with the name Sephiroth.

But, but, but⌠I love seeing how creative people get when naming their Elf Hunter âLegolasâ or their DH âIllidanâ.
You were reading my mind werenât you! lol
Be more creative than just naming your characters after the food on your desk
Itâs 2 expansions, not 6 months
My thoughts exactly.
