Alliance RP/Horde RP Progress and Things to Work On

Alright, I’ll bite since I’m pretty sure the Earthen thing was directed at me considering the comment made - Horde RP - Thoughts and Discussion - #78 by Maladonir-moon-guard

My issue Kirsy isn’t about how you all RP, it’s how you expect others to RP. I come online to detox, to not worry. I’m gonna be trying for a kid in the next year and moving across the country after succeeding in 8ish years of academia for school.

You bring up great points, but you also bring up extremely deaf points that you very clearly want WrA to succeed on. I think you want the best for the community, but the issue is that its on your own accord (no pun intended).

I do not give a single care about DMing or making a story outside of things I’m interested in, but it’s very clear from this post the community does. Why would I invest time into a community that doesn’t invest time in me? Similarly, you still have the Horde RP advantage, which is great, but quickly dwindling as per the last thread of Horde RP - Thoughts and Discussion showing the rag-tag band of nobodies coming together. It’s no shock in my opinion that you wouldn’t have time. Let me be very clear don’t try to bully creativity to happen. It’s not anything done conscious, but it’s night and day from even a trial account on Moonguard vs WrA.

I think your absolutely trying, but your unwilling to try beyond your own beliefs. Stop caring what you think personally would work, and let new players, who don’t represent yourself or myself actually take the stake. This is the only way to continue progress because otherwise, we’re a bunch of jerks that sit here watching RP happen and giving a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ down the road.

tl;dr, your clearly trying, but don’t let your own personal belief override opportunity.

Huh?

Huh?

what are you even responding to with this? lol, like im trying to follow how you came to this and I dont get it.

Read this thread and the other you linked and Im just ???

Nobody is forcing you to DM.

Most of the comments on these forums are encouraging people to give it a try, and that if DMs are getting burnt out, that they shouldnt feel like all responsibility is on them, that they can ask for help…

Just… what.

To be honest, I have no idea what you’re talking about. No one here is forcing anyone or bullying anyone to do anything. I’m not sure how you think that would even work. It’s the forums and no one here is the boss of anyone.

Just an aside about me, because you clearly don’t know me. I’ve been RPing on Alliance side for the past 3 years mainly as Larisi or Callie. Kirsy is my better known character, which is why I post on her. It has nothing to do with having a Horde advantage. Why do you think I started with an Alliance thread in the first place???

If you want to make an Earthen guild, go for it! But please don’t accuse me or anyone of…whatever it is you think is happening here.

Well, let’s not be hasty. If it is possible to bully someone into RPing something, I’d like to explore the option of forcing a bunch of people to RP with me like we’re in an office. We work at the corporate headquarters for a mid-sized taco chain. I am middle management and my workplace can often be an awkward and wacky place.

I am open to participating in this.

I don’t understand why we need these massive walls of sociology lectures.

PS- KIRSY Im now forcing and bullying you to roll a Mag’har Orc Priest and roleplay it as a cult.

Did someone say orc cult?

No one is bullying anything but I think Kirsy did try to open eyes to an actual real problem and that’s DM burnout. I know of 3-4 DMs in my small circle on WrA that are burned out and needing a break and I’m one of them. I’ve had to cancel most of my public events for the rest of the year due to needing IRL time. Unless someone steps up to take over the Stormwind Market which I run, that is also disappearing.

If you don’t want to DM then ignore the post? It’s obviously not intended for you. However there might be people out there that read it and decide “hey, maybe I can try so someone can have a break.”

You obviously seem to not like this community if you call us a ragged band of nobodies so… why are you here then?

I moved away from doing large public storyline events to doing small campaign statics and have found it to be far, far more sustainable for the long term. Not only do players get more invested, but I get more invested as the DM when it’s the same group of characters. It’s not without it’s own challenges, of course, but it feels much easier to maintain.

This is something I can repost again when I earn my Trust Level 3 back. Unless someone else with that Trust Level would like to pick it up more urgently. (For reference, I run both pinned threads on the WRA forums. I just organized my notification feeds by using alts for it.)

I honestly think this is a good way to go. Large events are very unwieldy if they have rolls involved. There’s a lot of waiting.

:open_mouth: I didn’t know that was you! I actually thought maybe Reinore was inactive.

I can tell you that Maerlyn re-earned his Trust Level 3 by going to large forum threads and rolling through them. I think it took him a couple of weeks of scrolling through them to get it back.

I can’t get past level 2 because I got a report for derailing a troll thread by talking about food. So now I put links between ` and forum posts will print them.

I just need to keep scrolling pretty much. I received a list from a ticket of how many additional things I need to read. It’s just a matter of ensuring it all gets met within that “past 100 days” window

But yee, if anyone is interested in taking up the directory thread I’m open to passing the format over. Doesn’t need to be me maintaining it, just wanna ensure it’s getting maintained. Only trouble I’ve had is that I can’t edit the current posts w/o destroying the formatting until Trust lvl 3 is back.

We are SO BACK with schizo-posting on the forums!

man we had a goofy drama thread get deleted a few days ago, and now we’ve got incomprehensible nonsense. who’s saying WrA is dead?

When the drama returns, does that mean the land is healing?

I tried to get mine back. I scrolled for two weeks, liked a bunch of things, etc. I still didn’t get it back. So I quit trying. I can’t do dailies on the forums, plus keep up in game, plus have a life out of it.

Good luck!

Sure but people still burn out. When you’ve DM’d non-stop for years, sometimes you need a break. Or life hits you. It’s totally normal to need a break or to want to pass the torch to the next generation of event coordinators.

I would love to see more co-dming going on, or co-co-dming, or…And so on. I know I’m not the most representative statistic, but I know I don’t have the time, muse, or discipline to do a long term DMing thing. What I am absolutely down to do, though, is to play an NPC here and there, or help keep track of numbers during an event, or attend an event and help write posts directed at specific people faster, etcetc.

It’s also always been my dream to attend a RP event and join up with the player characters, pretend to be a player character, and then BAMF betray them all near the end for nefarious reasons. Maybe drop hints in emotes throughout to see if anyone notices and reward people for reading emotes.
