Alliance Rogue: Dwarf or Human (For both PvE and PvP)

Hey guys,

I played a Troll Rogue back in Vanilla, which was very fun.

After getting my Arms Warrior to 120 in BFA I want to go back to Rogue, this time Alliance.

I primarily will focus on PvP (World PvP/AV/Random queue & premades) – but also plan on clearing the raid instances.

I am leaning towards Dwarf. I don’t plan on chasing any server firsts, but I do want to find a home in a “semi hardcore” PvE guild that will raid 2x a week and clear content.

My question is: Do you guys think that the PvP advantages of Dwarf over Human (Stoneform) is greater than the Sword damage advantage that Human has over Dwarf in PvE/Raiding.

I understand that equal skill and gear Human Rogue will out DPS me in raids, but is it something extra skill will offset? Or will I just be sitting at the bottom of Rogue DPS charts consistently? Am I looking into it too much because only the top server guilds will really car about min/max and utilizing the +5 sword bonus from Humans?

Non rogue player here… if pvp is one of your main focuses I’d go stoneform.

But sword spec is obviously great. Stoneform just adds so much survivability and opens up the ability to remove effects for vanish or restealth.

What’s hilarious is that I had a night elf rogue alt

Female dwarf rogue.

When you unstealth, your enemies will think they’re hallucinating and pass out.

Vanilla Rank 12 Human Rogue here. Human is the #1 choice for both PvP and PvE. You will never lose to another rogue in PvP (your hardest opponents) due to ALWAYS getting the opener thanks to Perception. In PvE Humans are still the #1 damage dealer thanks to their sword spec. My wife’s boyfriend is actually rolling human rogue for these reasons.

This guy knows more than I do about rogues I would take his advice.

In TBC tho I’d go dwarf just for CoS +Stoneform

If I was rolling alliance, it would be human 100%. How ever I’m undead rogue. I couldn’t give up will of the forsaken for pvp.

I was leaning towards changing to Human.

Am I missing something?

I always wanted to play a dwarf to see if treasure finding was anygood.

I can’t say I ever saw a dwarf rogue in vanilla. Which is why I rolled one to try the class out! But I didn’t have the patience for sneaking around.

In any case, if mechanics is what matters most to you, human definitely has some advantages. If you are more into the look & feel and prefer dwarf for that, I say go for it.

I do like that Dwarf Rogue is a lot less common, but I think I am going to roll a Human.

Which ever you like.

You dont see NBA couches saying no white people allowed because they don’t have +5 jump.

Trying to make a point

Rich Turpin hero to the working men and women of the World of Warcraft is a dwarf rogue.

Gnome for PVP, EA is amazing and don’t underestimate how good being super small can be.

Human for PVE, easy choice there.

I’m horde, but it’d be an easy human for me unless I was ONLY doing PVP.

Well, this needs to be resolved before I go to bed soo…

I’m in the Gnome rogue camp.

I am leaning Dwarf Rogue myself. Although sword spec is really interesting. Stoneform will help. A little food for thought, hear me out. This time around, expect a lot more fury warriors, human fury. A lot of competition for Swords. You know what dagger rogues get in MC? perditions blade, core hound tooth, and aged core leather gloves. I may or may not have misspelled those but hey, less competition for those items and you can roll a good pvp spec with those items.

For pure min/max human rogue +5 to swords is very good for pve until you get more +hit gear.
Now this next part is from memory haven’t played Wow for 6 years. As I recall stone form is great for removing status effects so that is a boon for pvp.
I just lean to gnome rogues because as a Horde player they are the most obnoxious.

Thats an easy choice. Dwarf

It doesn’t make that much of a difference.

Especially if you’re a dagger rogue.

And night elves could also be rogues, but you didn’t ask about them so whatever.
