Alliance in AV need to turtle

Oh that’s right . . . it’s Sunday.

i wholeheartedly agree, and its sad that we will probably see this perception last well into bc as well.

You’re not going to get people playing just becaue you post a post and need warm bodies in the matches.

I think everyone has been repeating this since Vanilla WoW.

Fact is, some players (and by some I mean a lot) have zero coordination skills or overall are just not team-players. I’ll accept that some players are new, or still don’t understand the BG they join but some of these people are just flat out terrible.

Rushing IBGY for example keeps being repeated and ONLY WORKS if Alliance have a team DEFENDING. Alliance want to race but cap towers late, cap GYs late and say things like, “FORGET THE TOWERS!”…BAD BAD BAD.

You remember how many players complained about not wanting to play with other people in a MMO?

Yeah, Alliance is filled with those types of players.

I was literally in a game where a group of players were “mountain climbing” instead of playing the game.

Horde players want alliance to turtle. Most games allies are trying to give the north territory to the horde on a silver platter by rushing IBGY/SFGY and leaving hardly any defense. The horde will typically cap SH but instead of continuing north they will then focus all of their efforts on going back south to try and retake whatever GY alliance is trying to get, eventually sending all alliance back to base and starting the 45 min turtle that was trying to be avoided.

Just stop queuing AV as Alliance. Honestly, what’s even the point? Rep gear isn’t that good anymore and it takes forever when losing 100% of your games.

They don’t though, all the Horde rankers quit if you turtle correctly. What horde wants is to kill your offense push, then rely on ally going afk and giving little resistance north while they all try and kill galv or idle on the map until horde win.

I only que on AV weekends.

After that it’s just AB and some premade WSG.

That’s punishing alliance more than horde. Alliance get another game in 5 mins, horde take 2 hours. So delaying a game hurts alliance much more than horde and it doesn’t help the alliance win since you can’t win by standing still and falling back.

Wrong. They don’t have to kill an offensive push to make allies afk for little resistance north. This weekend I’ve been in dozens of games where we are literally giving them the north for free with zero resistance. Instead they choose to run back south and defend instead of continuing north for a faster win.

Never said “all alliance are bad”. Good players will win regardless of faction. There’s significantly more horde players in WSG/AB, hence their longer queues. Less alliance players are interested in higher end more serious content.

It’ll be worse in BC. BE’s will make it so pretty much everyone plays horde. Alliance will still be strong on a few pve servers. But forget a pvp server in BC.

I won my first one of the year yesterday turtling there

Another issue on the alliance side is horde don’t need to DEFEND ANYTHING.

It has no bearing if they die, they get to send all 40 of their players to SHGY and Zug Zug into it until it’s taken, then they win. As any south GY will just be retaken while SHGY hard caps because of the horde cave rez.

Alot of horde don’t understand this when they bring up strats like defend these objectives, but it’s like how?

If we send people anywhere that’s less people defending SHGY and if that caps it’s game over.

You can cap ibgy with 30 and spin shgy with 10. I had a game where me and a mage duo spin shgy for like 10 minutes.

All the decent horde go back to wipe ally, leaving all the undergeared alts, afkers and noobs to try and push shgy or hold it to cap. Can literally 2 shot those kind of people and get it back.

This. I keep telling people that going for objectives doesn’t mean alliance automatically lose SHGY and this is why. Depending on alliance numbers, 20-30 horde will fall back to defend and the rest will zug zug somewhere.
.
Note, I am not suggesting this makes it some kinda cakewalk to actually hold an objective. It isn’t. I am simply saying the faction that says “we can’t play offense because then we lose SHGY” is incorrect.

Indeed, anyone who plays the BGs as intended are clearly abusing the ability to …play the…BG… as intended? Wait…what?

(edit note: Zyrius has actually called “sCoRcHeD eArTh” as abusive)

This cannot be posted enough.

It is even hinted at in posts by the defeatists who clearly view wins that are too long, not worth counting.
To wit:

Imagine that. AV games that are long, but are alliance wins.

Noted rabid supporter of v1.12 AV, Zyrius. Also known for advising the very “meta” he now decries as “sCoRcHeD eArTh” to those who did not want AV in classic to be a race.

Oh hi, that would be me. It is comically easy to cap the alliance base towers, as it is rare for any alliance to be there on D. Horde could do it even more easily in the horde base. For some reason the stealth mechanic does not work the same for them.

If the Horde are completely terrible.

The thing is, you’re not going to have all 40 players alive when Alliance offensive reach IBGY. And you’re going to have D picked off at SH.

And even if you “magically” get all 30 Alliance to IBGY, all Horde needs to do is launch an all out offensive on IBGY. They reach it 3X faster and with twice the numbers.

And I’ll tell you straight up that before IBGY gets hard capped, Horde either retake it or launch an all out offensive on SH and cap that before returning to IBGY. I’ve been in countless games where they don’t even worry about an IBGY soft cap - they just go all out on SH.

I reached exalted yesterday. I won 4 games in AV total. In all 4 of those games Alliance played perfectly and Horde were the worst players I’ve come across.

You can go on and on forever about different strats for Alliance, but the outcome always, ALWAYS, depends on the Horde team. For every Alliance strat Horde have an easy and faster counter.

Apparently horde suddenly begins to play absurdly bad on AV holidays, because ~reasons~. Could not possibly be due to good alliance not queueing outside of holidays.
