Alliance Bias

Well given I was Horde, and have been on the forums for years - yeah, there’s plenty who liked Garrosh.

Yeah, sure.

Nobody has to prove anything to you. You’re denying history and reality. I don’t want to bother trying, but I imagine you could still find it in the wayback machine.

And nobody has to prove your ridiculous claims wrong, because everybody who played Horde back then knows very well how much everyone hated Garrosh.

Okay… you’re doing that thing again, talking for the entire playerbase on the Horde.

It’s not just Tolkien, C.S Lewis Narnia golbins are evil, warlocks are evil, trolls are evil. In any major work of fiction how many are the orcs the good guys? It just doesint work

Still waiting for the explanation of how Warcraft was heavily influenced by Tolkien.

It’s funny cuz I thought most Horde players were attracted to the Horde because they are the rough and tough big scary bad guys but then they get their feelings hurt when Blizzard makes them the big scary bad guys

But tbh I think BFA writing in general was just plain bad for both sides

Well outside of the generic fantasy - which was inspired by LotR - like the pretty elves, orcs, etc, I feel like Tolkien inspired a different approach from Blizzard to try and make the, “bad guys good” in the case of the orcs, minotaur, etc.

Works of fiction are normally based off other works of fiction is the point and they follow similar rules and narratives. Your asking blizzard to break a long held narrative by most people through history which is that orcs, goblins, and that sort of creature are normally evil in works of fiction

Warcraft was inspired by Warhammer, not Tolkien.

I guess you ignored the entire latter half of my post. Warhammer definitely inspired Warcraft and Starcraft, but that doesn’t mean Tolkien wasn’t related.

People accredit Tolkien as the inspiration for too much.

“Tolkien inspired Dungeons & Dragons!” No, D&D was inspired by the works of Fritz Leiber and Robert E. Howard.

You’d be better off asking “How was it not?” If you look at the early artwork (concept art, etc), you can see very clear themes that had long been established… I am talking of the early days of Warcraft 1+2 ofc.

The trend continues on into warcraft 3, but certain aspects are “altered” just slightly… Just for example, who’s crown is this?

You’re getting your history mixed up.

You’re looking at the Peter Jackson films, and works derivative from them, which were inspired by Blizzard’s art team work. (Example: The Balrog from FotR is just Diablo.)

The actual Tolkien writings, and the descriptions from them, as well as artwork for them which pre-dates Warcraft, looks little like Warcraft.

So if where doing baseless claims, Balrog from the LotR:FotR Film looks like video game Diablo (from game & game’s boss) is just Lord of Darkness from Legend

First time anyone has suggested that xD

No. Even the earliest drawings of Morgoth depict him wearing what you might know as the helm of domination.

But that aside, my point is that orcs are never the “good guys” in fantasy, and no one really wants to see the bad guys win.

They are in Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft, which is a big part of what made the franchises stand out.

BLIZZARD IS A LIBERAL SOCIALIST COMPANY LOL AKA BLUE…ALLAINCE IS BLUE… ALLAINCE ALWAYS ACTS COWARDLY AND WORKS IN THE SHADOWS… PLOTTING AND SCHEMEING… … THE HORDE VALUES STRENGTH AND HONOR AND COURAGE. AKA MAGA RED… THEY HATE THE HORDE. EVERY BG IS DESIGNED TO GIVE ALLI THE ADVANTAGE. THEY LET ALLIS 10 MAN PREMADE AND EXCUSE IT AS 1 2 3 QUE IN BGS. THEY CLEARY ARE SCALED UP IN PVP i second this .

Are they now? … I am inclined to point out that even Arthas never thought of himself as a villain. To paraphrase Saurfang, Sylvanas was the true heir to Blackhand’s bloody legacy.
