There have been a few arguments for banks that say bank alts are a scam and clean out guilds. I have to counter this with the fact that people can just as easily, if not more easily, steal from a GB. In fact, I know of more guilds that got ripped off by giving the wrong person access to their GB, or accounts that got hacked and cleaned out the GB.
I’ve heard of this way less often, and honestly I can’t personally think of an example in my own guilds, where a bank alt person stole everything from the bank. The officer chosen to be the bank was often very trusted and dedicated.
“What if they get mad or just decide to leave the guild and take all the stuff with them?” You may ask. Well, isn’t that just as likely for an officer or GL to do with a GB?
^ This is a weak argument for guild banks. Just get a trusted officer to do it. Done.
All con men are trusted. How do you think they get access to do what they do? Which is scam people.
In the case of guild banks. There is no check in place. It’s purely blind trust. How hard is it to send donations to your alts without anyone even knowing with gba’s?
Ofc you know more of thise cases. The blind trust system with no check in place. Allows the skimming off the top to go practically undetected.
Also those examples show exactly how much ill intent players can have in regards to items of value in game.
Ofc it is. No one said it would completely stop players from being scammers. No system can. A lock is only a deterrent and no lock is fool proof. Gbanks are a deterrent to skimming off the top unnoticed.
With server rep being what it is. Go ahead and get a rep as someone who stole the contents of an entire gbank.
The logs are the deterrent.
You should read the mega thread and search the old forums for the 13 capped threads before that mega thread. This has been part of the arguement since the discussion began.
Look, I pointed out a flaw in your logic. People are going to be crappy no matter what system is used so choose your guild bank alt as wisely as you can.
The entire point is moot though, as Blizzard will not be implementing guild banks into Classic. So if anything, this whole argument is about a hypothetical.
Not even close. There is no in game log. It’s a blind trust system that is ripe for exploitation.
There is no easy to know someone is skimming off the top.
You thought you did but your logic is flawed because it’s not the same thing. There is no check to balance it.
Which is how almost every discussion started on these forums. Wish more people understood that when these forums were added. Lol.
Just for SnG’s try to help me understand how you catch someone skimming off the top of gba’s with actual proof to show the guild.
No one in 14+ threads and 1000’s of posts has been able to. So I doubt you can either. Lol.
Ever hear older folks say “when I was your age I walked to school uphill BOTH ways in snow?” Well OP here’s your chance to walk up a hill BOTH ways through snow on your way to school. #CLASSIC
