Their server can easily handle the population on arugal. The issue is the game was not tuned around that many players so they limit it. Nothing more, nothing less. Blizzard imposes this limit themselves and warned everyone about it. As some people have posted on here they would rather quit than transfer off SO I guess this comes down to how badly does Blizzard care about maybe 5k subs (once that many quit arugal would not suck so others would stop quitting)?

Your argument assumes that the developers didn’t introduce solutions for what issues there were at that time. There was and still continues to be a reason why the developers introduce new patches. With that in mind, It is within the Vanilla design goal meta to fix obvious issues. You’re wrong for suggesting that Blizzard intends to, by its design goal, offer a service that operates poorly.

and i would be wrong if thats what i was suggesting. however, having a singular constant game world is not a poorly operating service, it is part of the definition of a classic server. you cant have a server be layered and call it classic without it being a blatant lie. it would be classic+ at that point, and thats what you all are used to.
I disagree with this. Increasing the population cap meant phase 2 was a mess with no area clear of PvP. Every end-game flightpath, every end-game dungeon, every boat was camped. Layering actually gives classic more of a vanilla-like experience.
Blizzard need to actually address the overpopulation of mega servers. Layering will satisfy people but they need to move people off and they should have been actively pursuing this months ago. They’ve done the opposite. Opening up character creations and transfers is just mind blowing.

yeah thats what happens when new content is released. people bum rush whatever it is to get on the hype train. if you dont like massive scale world pvp battles or having to constantly be worried that you could be assassinated by players of the opposite faction, i guess the vanilla 3k player cap would be right for you. however, in my mind, i think that having a higher population cap is good to an extent. obviously too many players can be bad, but i think it would be worse to be playing on a dead realm or nearly dead realm and feeling like nothing you do will ever matter.

In actual fact though your are somewhat right as Blizzard completely failed at the start by allowing a single OCE pvp server and making it’s population to swell beyond reasonable … they caused the issue at the start …
