Aldor to Scryer

I originally chose the Aldor in BC to gain rep with and in that expansion got them to exalted and was therefore hated by the Scryers. I recently decided I’d like to switch to Scryers (for the achievement and to round out getting my last missing BC alchemy recipe).

I purchased the required items on the AH (1136 basilisk eyes) and turned in the quest in Shatt 142 times. Each time I turned in the quest I saw in the General tab a message that said Aldor went down and Scryers went up. When I was done my Aldor rep was neutral and my Scryers was still 35,500 of 36,000 hated. Am I doing something wrong?

According to Wowhead this is all I need to do. I opened a ticket with customer support and they pointed me to the same things I had already done. They keep telling me there is no issue, but I’m not seeing what I may be missing. Anyone else have an issue like this?

The turn in if memory servers, basilisk eyes will only get you to neutral, so you can pick the opposite rep and start doing the daily quest again. You still have quite a bit of rep grind.

Correct. Doing so only takes you to neutral.

For more information on raising your reputation I’d check out one of the site pages, like Wowhead.

Keep in mind there may be guides based on classic, though I don’t believe much, if anything, has changed, so the information should still be applicable.

As indicated, the basilisk eyes only allow you to reset your reputation to neutral, at which point you can quest and do reputation item turnins (Firewing Signets, Sunfury Signets, and Arcane Tomes).

I think the Signets and Tomes are available on the AH as well.

I think there’s a misunderstanding within the replies here.

The OP is saying this:

They are saying they are trying to raise their Scryers rep, not Aldor, and that the basilisk eyes turn-ins did not raise their Scryers rep to neutral as expected.

nope.
keep handing them in until the quest disappears.

The amount of rep needed is as follows:

  • 36,000 rep to go from Hated to Hostile
  • 3,000 rep to go from Hostile to Unfriendly
  • 3,000 rep to go from Unfriendly to Neutral

So, with no rep buffs, it would take 168 turn-ins to reach Neutral with Scryers (as the quest does +250 Scryer rep per turn-in). That should require 1344 Dampscale Basilisk Eye.

You have done 142 turn-ins which would net you 35,500 rep. Two more turn-ins should be all of the rep needed to move out of Hated and into Hostile.

If you do not see a change to Hostile afterwards, then I would recommend the Full UI reset option linked above.

While I did my switch the reverse of yours as I went Scryer to Aldor, I don’t remember any difficulties in having the rep change.

Also, please note that we have a bonus XP/rep event starting on 15 June 2023 (and ending on 11 July 2023) that will help with rep gains.

look at the numbers though…

this is only a handful away from hostile… isn’t it?
they’ve gone from 0/36,000 hated, to 35,000/36,000 hated.

Yes, you are right. My old eyes missed that … so thank you.

Will edit my previous reply.

it does get really confusing with how the numbers work.

it kind of looks like it’s going backwards, when it’s actually going in the right direction

I think we’re on the right track now. I was thinking of rep buffs when I had posted that last night, but you’re correct: if they’re not a human or otherwise don’t have a 10% rep buff, then they’re still another 25-ish turn-ins away from getting to neutral. This would explain why they’re still hated and have not yet hit unfriendly or hostile.

You are correct, I should have called that part out. The others above me have covered it but I’ll speak to some specifics.

No, I don’t believe so. I counted 142 turns ins for the repeatable quest “More Basilisk Eyes”. You should have gained a good chunk of rep, 35,500 if my math is correct.

Keep in mind, when you gain reputation in Hated the number is getting bigger. So you are going from 0 to 36000. Once you hit 36000 you will go to the next reputation rank, which should be Hostile, as Nobully noted.

Thank you all for the replies, that is VERY confusing. I’m going to turn in more and see what happens!
