Absolutely not at all.
I like how the alchemist paints bottles onto the front of his apron to make it look like he has potions.
FUN FACT! Sticks smeared with herbal compounds were traditionally used by European herbalists to administer hallucinogens to themselves, and running about after insertion of said smeared sticks led to the “Witches flying on broomsticks” myth. (flying meant ‘running about crazily’ back in the day)
So… this is weirdly kind of accurate, even though it’s very 2D, and explains why the outfit is an open bottomed dress instead of pants.
(I would much prefer a Dr. Horrible style labcoat with some oversized gloves and a backpack with alembics, calcinators, etc hanging from it and some sort of test tube held item with maybe some sort of flask or other lab equipment for the main hand)

I actually really like the staff.
It’s a long neck vial, that, in my opinion, is cleverly implemented as a sheath / handle for a mixing stick that is covered in purple and green fluid.
I’m somewhat opposed to actual vials as that’s a Rogue thing. At least to me. I love the Rogue sets that use Vials and poisons. But the 2D texture on the chest is… weak.
My gripe is the helm. I get that alchemy uses herbs, but it makes him look like the herb gather. Which isn’t necessarily the case.

I was hoping for a lab coat and goggles option
Ditch the robe, give it a potion festooned bandolier, a belt with various ingredient bags, slap on a standard plague doctor mask and I’d be content.

Dear OP,
Why would I want to wear any of that. It is just plain ugly.
Besides the chest piece being done horribly, everything else makes sense. Got your goggles for protection and your mixing/hiking stick with what I imagine is a rejuvenation potion at the end.

Honestly I might have to make Noree and Alchemist because that set SCREAMS goblin alchemist. That is so good. I hope we get more sets, but I don’t want them to change it.

Looks like a bad mage mog. The potions need to be on a belt and actually modeled. Not just painted on. The hat has got to go. Hats in general suck in this game because hair disappears under them. I don’t understand the bare feet thing. They shouldn’t have a robe. It should be a lab coat.
I hope Enchanter doesn’t end up looking this dorky.

Omg it looks absolutely terrible. Painted on vials? Really Blizzard? This screams lazy corners cut nonsense. I imagined a leather satchel with actual vials on it, a pouch on the thigh holding herbs, something along those lines. This is just terrible.
It needs more detail, but its basically the same as the stuff you linked, and the hat is fantastic.
Also it’s previewed on a Human Male so its automatically crappier looking because of that.

For those of us who haven’t been following the DF news, what’s the story with this profession outfit? What purpose will it serve? Will there only be one per profession that fits all armor types?

I think the stick is supposed to be a cauldron stirring thingy, but dang, it looks dumb. Although not quite as flat out dorky as the apron.

I hope they end up tweaking it as well to match the art you posted, some vials in the hands would make sense and maybe some 3D textures on the robes too…I mean what even is that lol
