So what’s the verdict here? Sounds like eu has quite a few tournament gamers using AHK, and from memory everyone here called Dekel a cheater for doing so in WotLK.
I mean if people get 6 month for using it to farm stuff I can’t imagine it’s in any way acceptable in arena.

Reeks of old honor buddy ban wave where everyone in wod s2, even Xaryu and co got banned for using it.
Every single one of them said, “no bro I was ONLY using it for leveling! I swear!”. Everyone using AHK is saying they only use it for key mapping, or blaming a keyboard.
Idk, guy got the most reports I’ve ever seen a player receive from the cabal for a span of 4 years and never got banned once. Went to wotlk used AHK to the hatred of many and similarly never got banned + got r1 again

That and battleground spam for gearing, yeah.
I mean to be fair that’s the only thing one can reasonably do. Admitting it isn’t really gonna absolve them of any potential punishments.

Problem is the German & Russian “Gaming” Mentality, many of them using Cheats, not only in Wow, Csgo is also Full of them and it doesnt matter how often they get Banned, they come back like Fruit Flys
they are not even ashamed of it, i also Know 2 Na guy´s from a Privat Server what using a full rotation bot in Catacylsm Classic i can tell you, in Cata classic there is literally no Gm moderation, while on Retail u getting banned in 3-6 Months for using illegal 3rd party rotation Software
Same with Torstenstock a German Guy what is known from Arena Tournament for Using Script Bot´s this guy is close to be full Robot, nothing Happens, Classic Server is wild

The point for many is simply the reward, not getting better. Why get better at all? You could spend a season trying to get 10-20-30% better, or you could reroll bm s1, ret 10.0.7, destro / fire bfa s4, ret war sls2, etc and appear 100% better than you are.
Use the WAs, the AHKs, use honor buddy, who cares lmao.
Bicmex showing that kick conditional macro was the tip of the iceberg I think. There’s never just 1, and without him talking about it, Blizzard would’ve never resolved it.

I think it’s absolutely against the ToS and bannable if caught. AHK scripts and addons are already bannable and largely disabled. The issue is that a lot of those players are using programable keyboards as a workaround.
For those curious, AHK or “Auto Hot Key” is when you can press a single key and get rapid, repeated, “automatic” responses.
For example, if I hold down my “a” key, I would type a single “A” until I released the button and pushed it again. With AHK, I would hold down the A and it could type 20 “As” in a second as though I had pushed the key 20x.
This is NOT a bot, but can result in faster or “unfair” human interactions. For example, if I’m playing a paladin and I see another paladin horsing at me for a hoj, I could hold down an auto hot key such as, “Hoj arena 3” and the instant the paladin got in my line, I would hoj him and ALWAYS hoj first. This can also be done with things like priests deathing mage sheeps or rogue blinds, but DOES require a targeted interaction.
Another example would be ALWAYS getting a cast off in between cyclone casts, no matter how perfectly they’re chained, or getting a defensive off if there’s a 0.1s gap in a stun.

I think that both AHKs and WAs are not “hacks”, and have similar purposes and goals, but function backwards in terms of how they’re applied.
Weakauras present information in more visible ways, but you still need to react and press your button. AHKs don’t present the information, so you need to be aware of what’s happening, but DO “play the game for you”.
Both are undeniably advantageous, but one gives information and the other gives a response. I think they’re both evil in their own way, but Blizzard has been super vocal and consistent that WAs are okay within reason, and AHKs are not.

100% chance blizzard says that as a blanket statement and not from a place of education. The things WA can allow in game far exceed what Blizzard expects, their own macro interface allowed you to create kickbots in wod undetected.
Massive grain of salt on anything stamped with blizzard’s approval.

Wasn’t just in wod. Was a thing in dragonflight that some EU player figured out in s1 and didnt get caught until end of s2 or s3 when bans went out XD

Iirc Robotz the ele sham posted a video on x using a Macros and AHK just to show its effect with ele and ended up getting a temp and dq in DF.
I’m no expert but I’ve seen videos. AHK can perform full rotations if scripted right and they can add conditions to only press X spell when X buff or proc is active. Sure it could be lightly used as a convenience but it also has the potential to be a full on script with the touch of one button.
