AH Extremely Slow - Throttles Need Adjustment

This old AH can’t handle the amount of crap posted on it basically.

Ahh. Probably a lot more now from players trying to clear bag space for wrath.

I second this, the AH is practically unusable on Benediction-Alliance. I struggle to do basic operations that used to take a couple minutes, they now take over an hour. This is completely unacceptable and a greatly irritating waste of my time.

There has to be a better solution to whatever problem Blizzard was trying to solve than this. The AH is unusable if you want to sell more than a few items at a time. Things that would have taken me just a few minutes to do now take hours. The default UI is useless for more complex and automated calculations, so people who use addons to enjoy this part of the game shouldn’t be punished. People keep suggesting just bringing over the retail AH, but if I wanted to use the retail AH I would just play retail (but I don’t, for a reason).

Blizzard needs to relax with these heavy-handed “fixes” that are meant to limit botting/RMT/whatever thing people are boogeymanning. Sure, those behaviors hurt the game’s economy, but at a certain point, gutting entire swaths of the game because you’re afraid gold is being bought and sold is just killing more than it’s saving. A non-functioning AH helps no one.

Personally, as someone who would normally be incredibly active on the ah as my primary gold generator, I gotta say the current ah is basically unusable for most professions. Was selling 200-600 potions/flasks a day before the ah became a throttled mess
Now it’s literally not worth the time or effort.
Its like they want people to just say screw it and buy gold. Wouldn’t be at all shocked to learn blizz had investments overseas in gold sales companies.

The addons are legitimately terrible.

Search an item, TSM makes API calls until it gets the pages. Click an item to buy it, it makes more API calls. It spams them out and needs to be made more efficient. It also handles bugs poorly. Get an error trying to buy? Better stay locked until you force the frame to re-render. Trying to cancel. F you. Call the API when scanning, then more scans when trying to cancel? Trying to cancel auctions you’ve undercut yourself on? Better scan the AH for those items instead of looking at all the data available on your Auctions tab.

I rarely post on the forums but I have to add my two cents here.

I’m not using TSM or any of the other AH addons, literally just trying to buy materials for leveling professions and then sell back the crafted products. This is BRUTAL,Blizzard you need to refine your throttling algorithm, you’re just punishing people trying to generate some legitimate gold. It’s 4am server time and I’ve had to try to post my auctions about 10 times per item just to get them to post.

I understand the addons were causing issues but this throttling is 1000 times worse than the AH was at the peak hours prior to pre-patch.

These issues show it’s not all addons… addons have been barely functional since prepatch and you still can’t use the base ui without errors

I will shamelessly bump this until blizzard fixes or reverts these god awful changes.

The AH wasn’t unusable before 3.4 with everyone and their mother using addons, yet now its essentially unusable both with and without addons, because addons have been artificially broken & the default UI is the worst designed system in the game.

Really suspicious, considering how many rumors are out there about WoW devs selling gold on the side.

As someone who’s been the butt of the “low bid extremely overpriced buyout” meme I really wish we could just sort by the buyout price. Why on earth do I care about the bid price when the bid is 1 silver and the buyout is 2g and the lowest buyout is 10s. Like cmon our AH is garbage

“I heard AH searches are sometimes taking 10-20s, I’m from Blizzard and I’m here to help”

  • Implements auction throttle in 3.4

  • Searches now take 10-20 minutes instead of seconds

“You’re welcome”

All the 10 IQ people saying 'addons" it’s not addons you non tech savvy clowns.

It’s the actual AH server on Blizzards side, internal auction house error means they messed up…You can disable all addons, and you still will only be able to post 5-6 items every 20 mins without an error.

They broke it on retail, took them +2 weeks to fix

Retail ah works fine now, no throttling and TSM works fine, also retail AH is regional meaning millions of people use it a day without lag or issue.

Fact Blizzard can’t fix a simple issue on classic ah is nuts, even the lead TSM developer said this is just lazy on Blizzards part.

The problem is the people behind this change are not the bright bulbs in the box.
The players abusing the AH with addons were using snipers attempting thousands of page scans per minute for hours at a time (not a simple daily scan)… and Blizzards genius response was to throttle everyone trying to do a few dozen page scans per minute… IOW they are throttling literally anyone & everyone using anything other than the garbage default UI.

Except they are also making it impossible to make gold on the AH… which actually encourages gold buying.

Completely agree. The sniper / full scans every time you open the AH are the issue, not general use of things like TSM. That’s why TSM moved to the API, even in classic you can just setup the realms so you don’t HAVE to re-scan every time. At worst the API data is 1 hour old, which is usually good enough.

Definitely wish Blizzard would have taken a different approach overall that throttling it for everyone!

Well the current issues are 100% due to the throttling Blizzard have implemented. As per the blue post the throttling is triggered on a per user basis and is not server wide, whatever parameters they’re using to trigger the throttling is set way to low and basically appears to be “If you search more than 1 page within 5 seconds, then prevent further queries for another 5 seconds”.

Their heavy handedness was caused due to heavy addon use causing a large number of query requests to generate sluggishness at peak hours, but it was no where near this bad.

I want to make it clear I am NOT blaming addons for causing the current issues, I am simply stating that Blizzard over reacted immensely due to the query volume causing some lag.

Post a video, nobody I have talked to has issues outside of mass posting via an addon.

I post hundreds of items every hour or so.

still broken btw.

Do you talk to anyone on a bigger server than Atiesh?
It’s mainly a struggle for the megaservers.

But everything was fine before prepatch, so it’s not that we have “too many people”

They broke it on purpose.
