If this is the case then it should just be against TOS, having a huge grey area and banning people because it “looks bad” is stupid.
Region lock servers, boot people off when they try to use a vpn. Instantly win the RMT war.
I don’t think live chat exists anymore. At least in EU they removed it for a time when the virus was still a thing and then later reinstalled it to be open, but not everyday and then just for 2-4 hours a day during the afternoon. Now it seems to be gone completely.
It hasn’t for years due to players spamming the hot line with unrelated questions and rendering the system useless.
lol kinda like when blues attempt to communicate here
Watching gdkprs seethe makes my day.
Keep at it boys, im never let down.
I have a background in Runescape so I’m very familiar with people who got justly banned cooking up convincing sob stories on social media, and it pretty much always turns out that they either botted or did RMT. But a lot of Aggrend’s statement still leaves it a bit hard to be confident… I realize we’ll probably never get specifics but it’s frustrating that there’s so much uncertainty baked into this comment - and maybe that’s just because PR / customer support related things are not his job.
But just knowing that if I follow the rules I probably won’t be banned doesn’t feel great when from testing we’ve seen that trying to get an actual human to reply to a ticket is impossible.
“The majority […] favor of legitimate bans” makes it sound like false positives are just a cost of doing business, so to speak… like sure maybe it’s 1 in 1000. I’d be fine with that if I knew I could get someone from Blizzard on the horn to properly investigate it. But if customer support is only going to be templates/scripts/AI how am I supposed to feel confident doing things like selling consumables to other people in a PUG raid, or selling a BOE that drops to someone, etc.
It’s not the GDKP ban that I have a problem with (although if they have the resources for detection & banning of GDKP, surely they should have the resources & detection to ban the bots themselves…), it’s that it just all seems automated and you just have to hope you aren’t caught in the crossfire.
I don’t want to know that I’ll likely be fine… I want to know what if I’m not fine? I don’t need confirmation of what specific thresholds or mechanisms are in place for detection, I need confirmation of whether real humans are responding to & investigating tickets, or if it’s gg’s for your account if you are part of the statistical insignificance.
Brave souls.
All blue threads should probably be preemptively locked as they just spawn negativity. Could be saying everyone’s sub is now free and people would complain about that somehow.
My subs already free
well played. You technically do, but not with real money. Blizzard funbucks.
Now accepting responses such as “I just paid my sub yesterday!” or “there goes the game quality”.
Whats uncertain? The guy said the system is working. He’s not going to say the system is perfect because no system is. everyone agrees that innocent people being banned is bad. I am confused when the community is furious that “they wont do anything about bots”. Then they start doing something about bots and RMT, a bunch of clowns on the forums start complaining that illicit actors are being banned. They do ban bots. The bot makers rapidly find a work around that then requires another round of bans. Cycle continue, This has been explained by blizzard. Essentially, your post is defending gold buyers. If blizzard could ban all bots instantly for all time, they would. The bots are costing them money. You either want them to address the problem or you dont. Your post makes it look like you dont. Blizzard has no incentive to ban their real customers.
Really? You think is hard to ban a flying hack mage in stockades or rogue or a guy repeating the same path over and over 24/7??? Do not make me laught bro.
Blizzard does not have Any gm, the excuse of banwave are just that , excuses for saying That they care about bots but they dont. Why the AI is not instant banning people doing the same route / path over and over??? That is imposible for Any real human to do, false positives are not even posible.
I am not pro gdkp, but i don’t care about gdkp in the Game or not, banning gdkp and do not use the IA for instant banning bots is a sp it in My face.
Forgive the stupid question (I ask lots of them these days at my age) but exactly who is AggrendWoW? I’ve seen the reference a few times but no idea who/what they are. Can someone shed some light on this for me please?
Hes a lead dev.
*Lead eater. You ever work with someone that big? They spend half the day eating and the other half "conserving energy ".
WOW the mad GDKPers can’t give up.
It’s sad. YOu lost guys.
Self depreciation is fine. Leave judgements on appearance out of it.
Sorry.
Perhaps I’m being a bit defensive on the dude’s behalf because he did make the effort to come here and post instead of sticking with X.
I like how everyone is using gold buyer, we also need to point out gold sellers.
Shoving cheeseburgers in your face with no self control tell you hit 450 has nothing to do with a messed up face, werid nose, missing limbs, race, sex, creed or religion. Do you know how long it takes to eat 4k calories a day? It 100% impacts his performance. And it’s pretty clear we’ve had knee jerk, after knee jerk response.
Wow almost like the lead dev has low impulse control??
Hmmmm.
Why blame the company when all they’re trying to do is combat TOS violations?
You can’t just snip part of my total message and strawman it. You have to take it all into account and with complete context.
Again, this is a player created problem that Blizzard can’t fix easily. And as I said, it sucks for regular players but it’s not Blizzard’s fault, it’s the gold buyers/sellers/botters. You’re the type of person to blame cops for being late to work when they cause you to miss a green light cause they have sirens on, then go on a tangent how ‘all cops are evil’ when you should be mad at the guy speeding/breaking the law.
Again, just don’t take money/gold from people you don’t trust/know. Everyone acts like there’s so many innocent players in the world when the truth is that’s simply not the case. Does it suck for someone who sold a sick BoE to someone for a large chunk of illicit gold? Absolutely. But instead of crying and blaming Blizzard (who is actively trying to warn players btw) you could be educating people and spreading that information. You don’t do that though because you’re part of the problem, or worse, you don’t actually care and are just trolling.
All ranting aside, brass tacks and what not. Let’s say I’m wrong or that Blizzard is. How do YOU fix the problem of gold buyers/sellers? Let’s engage in a conversation, a back and forth about what could be done and I’ll explain to you why every suggestion you might have is wrong. Unless of course you have some magic silver bullet that fixes the problems. Either way, respond to my above however you feel and then let’s set that aside and have a civil discussion about what you think/feel is the correct solution. I’ll wait.
