I don’t understand why it is so hard for Blizzard to just say, fully, that yes, Void Elves ARE High Elves and should receive all the same options ALL High Elves have.
Why is it so difficult for them to just do this. The players have been asking for like, at least 15 years.
When you already have 4 elven races in the game - most of which can be adjusted appearance-wise to look like High Elves - they probably cant see the need to include yet another elven race with exactly the same appearances.
PS: rather than just adding yet another variety of races we already have, Id much rather see something fresh and new, with an interesting story behind it and lots of variety. But PLEASE Blizz, no allied races again. Just a racial option we can choose from the character creation screen.
I am still hoping we get a “black eye night elf” style quest that just allows void elves to change their name to high elf and make all their racials arcane theme but functionally the same(arcane rift instead of spatial rift, arcane embrace instead of entropic embrace, Arcane heritage instead of chill of night) et Voilà, high elves.
Well, maybe they could do something clever like this:
Include a questline for Void Elves where they go off to see some important NPC who sends them on a sort of ‘soul mission’ where they venture back into the past to link with their heritage. It would involve some intricate and potentially painful disconnection from the Void where they are spiritually, physically and magically given the ability to transform into High Elves. They would still actually be classified as Void Elves but would have a transformation option (a bit like the worgen do in being able to become their human form) in certain situations. The abilities, as you mention, would change to those names and their appearance options would like wise change to a different outcome. So if they picked, say, blond/e hair for Void Elf, they would have the silvery blonde of High Elves, and if they picked blue eyes for Void, would get normal blue eyes for High.
They said it’s possible in the future they can add questlines to explore some of the specific sub-race options within races so I wouldn’t put it past them. Although it’s most likely at the near bottom of the priority list.
I was surprised by the number of Elves that were today in Stormwind on the Stormrage server, the “Dorei” dominate the 2 factions, nobody can against us
They did confirm in the interview for Void Elves during brain storming that they were originally supposed to have a toggle Void form more like Worgen and that they would have tie ins to future Void centric expansion content, so we’ll see how far that turns out to be true with the current iteration of Void Elves…
Also I don’t wanna shock you, but I play my Maghar Orc as a * le gasp* Outland Maghar!!!
Dude. People roleplay dragons.
The character customization gives you tools to reflect what exists on the lore. And you can do that with High Elves, as you can with Maghar, and Farraki and Wildhammer.
All that Alliance players were asking for were their own High Elves- as seen by many world NPCs still loyal to the Alliance from before the 3rd War and the fall of Quel’thalas.
Then Blizz gives us this half measure of Void Elves without proper customizations to look like High Elves - - Which they ARE.
To be fair I like the void elf voices better than the blood elf ones. It’s nice to sound posh instead of a vapid valley girl. And void elf men have the sexiest male voices in game now XD
