Wow this class is so behind what it was in the glory days… where did it all go wrong.
If you believe the rumors, a dev got beat by a DK in pvp and threw a fit until they were nerfed to the point the Dev no longer felt threatened by a DK in pvp.
im having fun just smacking stuff in WOTLK, my Autos are smashing. Death Coil is visually appealing and chunks, Scourge strike is decimating my enemies and Blood boil feels impactful. also yeah im not just spamming green spells as an unholy DK
Nice, I don’t have a 55 in classic so I can’t play a DK over there, but I do remember them being beasts and getting caught up in the DK rush for a time.
i think they removed the level 55 requirement to make a DK in classic, for your first death Knight at least. (so you can get the dragon mount easily as well)
To me, frost atm needs the most love (well at least more of a set direction of the spec).
Do you like how strong dk is in wotlk, or mechanically? I think the three specs in certain aspects during wrath feel relatively similar.
I just like how i have some strong hitting abilities and the fact i feel like a death knight but just a disease knight.
On retail none of my abilities really feel like they hit hard at all.
Things were designed as a Class back then so the core of each is going to be very similar. it’s the small things each spec add on that influence each spec. They weren’t as wildly different as they are now.
With maybe the exception of Mages.
Because you actually played a Death Knight and not a frost knight, blood knight or unholy knight.
Things were more impactful because there was interaction within the spec and things were more limited.
Scourge strike takes 2 runes instead of 1, no Sudden Doom for Unholy so the RP spent feels impactful, interaction with diseases that not only help your damage through boosting ability damage but other magic damage users with Ebon Plaguebringer, we used our relic slot and those can give 200 str for the ToC sigils on Death Strike, Obliterate or Scourge Strike and really DK is quite OP in Wrath, they wanted to nerf it in the original but people said no so they didnt.
With Frost you have the offhand doing almost as much damage as the main hand in terms of crits. Right now a 16k main hand crit would have an 8k offhand crit, in Wrath the main hand crits for 16k and the offhand crits for 11k (due to nerves of cold steel). It feels better and the scrolling combat text is 100% superior in Wrath compared to DF. Makes thigns feel impactful even though the animation doesnt.
Just dont run details, it doesnt show a lot of stuff on the DK like the shadow portion of Scourge Strike, offhand damage for Frost… no clue why but its just absent.
I cannot fathom how anyone could think WOTLK DK is more fun or engaging than its current iterations in DF. It feels like a different game.
It’s so slow and clunky in WOTLK with barely anything to do or much thought process. Almost like a more a turn based RPG. Rune management is not enough to make it enjoyable or engaging.
I understand people wanting things easier but it’s a bit silly. Just play Ret if you want an easier play style.
I’m never gcd locked out or rune/Runepower locked out in wotlk so what do you mean.
It absolutely is more fun and engaging. 4/6 of the priorities for BoS in DF have to do with Obliterate and Obliteration isnt much better. I also dont know how anyone can say its slow.
Unholy after it got reworked in legion is like driving a car with square wheels and is still a clunky spec compared to the other specs available in game.
Unholy in wotlk has some flaws too but I’d still rate it as being a more enjoyable experience.
And the other specs are very smooth, on top of build variety for tanking depending on content.
Blood tanks best for most raid bosses, unholy and frost for tanking dungeons.
i sure was fun being unkillable while leveling
I like the slow killing machine from wotlk, but i think the real problem is that dk lost his essence in retail, the equivalent to play a shaman without totems.
and i miss the classic wow sounds, DK sounds in wotlk are just amazing, sounds in retail sucks in general
The classic DK sounds are so good.
The crackle of icy touch, the crash of Death coil, deep UHHHN OF blood Boil
It needs a whole redesign in Modern to make it what it was. Now we’re 3 separate classes instead of 1 class with 3 addons. it sucks. Give us Icy Touch, Plague Strike and Blood Strike baseline as well as Presences again.
Is hilarious how retail DK Made a new problem about GCD for unh/frost dk that was never a thing in wotlk because of pressences, and this problem has never been fixed after the pressences removal.
Imagine wotlk dk with apocalypse, abomination limb and the good things from retail, But in retail, this would be amazing.
For the first time i’ve stopped playing My dk since his first day and now im playing monk, just got tired of the same class since legión Carrying the Bad things over and over again.
I like the horn sound. It’s really cool.
& now they are removing Wrath Era…are we as Death Knights just not allowed to have fun in any version of the game?
