After An Near 16 Year Uninterrupted Sub I Am Down To 24 Hours Left

Short Version: SL killed me. I can’t raid or Mythic, long tear jerker of a story that I don’t feel like repeating again. I hate, and suck, at PvP. Nothing left to do but grind WQ’s for anima. That is if the anima WQ’s are blocked by silly gold or gear drops that are worse than what I am wearing. SL made me look forward to finishing Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’s boring as snot story line. That’s something.

OK, done with that.

Been here since retail…hell even before that. Did some beta testing. Just thought I would sign off with a take it easy all. Go outside blah blah blah. If reading that I have been at this for almost 16 years straight makes you think about your time in game, maybe rethink the future.

For all the “Can I have your stuff?” people, no. My stuff sucks.

For all the “See you next content patch” people. Duh, but only if there is something for me to do. It’s going to take a lot for that to happen.

Will I slip, more than likely. Once they announce Classic TBC, it’s off to classic to horde ores for jewelcrafting and finish off that toon with Alchemy. Rolling in the cash with just those two professions.

I thought leaving would be hard, but I’m not…yet. Sure it will hit me later. Let’s see what crashes first. Quitting booze and WoW at the same time. Going to be a hoot.

If I don’t see you, Goodnight all!

Jokes aside, I’ve been playing casual more and more myself to the point I play this game maybe 1 day a week most times. Maybe you should go more casual and avoid the gearing/progress treadmill.

I don’t blame you. It’s not just one thing with Shadowlands. Pretty much one big dumpster fire atm.

Ahh! A page turner! Best of luck man. I’m mostly focusing on leveling an alt thru lore master these days. The M+ love fest this game is becoming is a shade past what I enjoy. Best of luck. I’m not too far behind you (on wow that is, the booze is probably going to stay)

The entire end game has been devoured by this game mode and the lemmings that keep saying it’s the best system implemented into the game ever lol!

I’ve never seen a more toxic piece of content in a video game than M+ and I play competitive shooters daily, M+ runs are way more toxic.

I remember playing during the original beta. Do you remember the Survival skill that never made it into the release version? Vanilla WoW beta is the most fun I’ve ever had playing the beta version of anything.

16-years straight, huh? That’s a long time to be playing any game regularly. You’re probably due for a break. If you take some time off you may end up having more fun when you jump back in.

I vaguely remember there being like some camping thing, and light mechanics. Woulda been interesting if they went through with it

Interesting. Because I’ve only experienced maybe 2 toxic groups and I pugged m+ all through bfa till now.

LMAO unless you pug with a another 3 peeps that’s ludicrous

Nope. Solo pug as a tank.

Op I hope whatever you do you do what you like. Take care and be careful out there.

Congrats on quitting the booze. Itll be hard but you will feel better for it.

As for the game, Im with ya. I didnt play through all 16 years but been on and off since Vanilla and this expansion has me bored to tears. I already cancelled but had a 6month so I have a few weeks left. I dont plan to come back anymore unless they stop time gating content. It strikes me as pure greed to make people buy an expansion and then pay 3 more months of sub fees to be able to do things that are part of the expansion (warfronts in BFA, fully upgrade my covenant sanctum, LFR). The stories arent that good and there is no character immersion. Bland professions. Talents havent been updated in years instead doing this borrowed systems shenanigans. And I also suck at PVP, so theres not much left for me.

I wish you the best in whatever you find next.

Whatever you say lol. I guess you speak for everyone that plays the game huh?

More importantly good luck with the booze.

The hilarious tidbit about this argument is the fact that this is echoed throughout the forum by numerous posters.

And you know what? Why haven’t you guys started your own community to run Mythic+ without toxicity? Everyone that would join is right here, echoing the same thing you are.

I’m pretty casual too, but I just don’t understand this argument anymore. I do enjoy M+ because I like how it scales up with each Keystone level and you can keep doing them without a lockout. It’s fun (for me) to push myself in them, master the mechanics and my class. I can’t get over the hypocrisy of people despising “hardcores” for bashing the “casual lifestyle” when they turn around and make a comment like this. Calling Mythic±ers toxic lemmings for enjoying that content is toxic itself.

I guess it’s a good thing though OP. I don’t imagine playing WoW for 16 years or any game for that long! Hobbies change and it’s a good thing you’re quiting both WoW and booze

I haven’t had a sub for years I just buy gametime when I want to play. The game isn’t worth paying a monthly sub for unless it has content I want to play. Thought i’d be into SL way more than I am, but sadly this feels terrible. It feels like trying to play a season in Diablo III and get excited about it when I already have been there and done that.

This expansion is just more timegating, more carrot chasing, more meh. Was hoping for something that was a better distraction from the pandemic honestly. So get what you are saying hell I personally might just uninstall retail right now cause it isn’t getting any better for months.

Cya pal. Quit for the same reason as a casual player. My sub runs out in March.

Would reccomend FFXIV, ESO, GW2 and SWOTR over current WoW for casual players. You actually feel like a big part of the game and not a welfare recipient.
