What makes affliction so bad at PvP? I know destro is god tier, but i honestly hate the spec. Just curious on afflicitons weaknesses or if its just desto is that much better
It can’t live for nothing it’s damage is fine it just dies so quick

Well aside from rot pressure also not really being a thing due to everything having so much self healing and class design for aff is horrible as well but yeah
I’ve seen affliction pump, only with grimoire tho and losing fel hunter seems like a big trade off

No instant cc unless you take coil (single coil unlike double coil destro)
usually need port to survive.
Destro gets locked on fear bolts .
Aff gets locked on fear cries
Aff actually has decent dmg but just gets trained without bringing much cc to the table and gets shut down hard.
Sustained dmg is extremely easy to heal and with dps having high self healing it makes rotting a team a lot harder.
IF defensives get brought down aff has a shot and only needs a little love imo.
Aff was always good at getting pressure off even while being trained due to dots and spread pressure but awk destro does this better with 70% haste fear machine guns and 1 sec cb

it works for spriests
boomkins too but everybody on na who’s willing to play bear and wait for dampening simulator 2019 just does it as healer

aff doesn’t lag very far behind destro in overall dps or hps. it’s worse because it can’t well peel for itself in emergencies without coil or axe toss and it can’t force out pressure by abusing multiple spell schools. if they made the single change of bolt being unusable while shadow locked, destro would near-immediately rejoin aff as a spec you can switch off by training it, while retaining the healing and damage per second that people wrongly think are the only reasons why destro is harder to fight now than it used to be

Affliction’s strength of being spread damage rot class has been gutted. every dps class have some sort of self healing or azerite trait healing. Spread rot builds are suffering this expansion, even boomkins who used to be spread damage with big burst are now just bear form till incarn is up.
So for afflic some one out there thought “hey lets make UA stack and give them darkglare for burst.” So now you have an UA that tickle because you’re suppose to stack em, and darkglare burst which is not bad burst but gl getting 3+ UAs on a target and darkglare bursting every 3(?)minutes. Put it this way afflic UA-darkglare burst is worse than demo’s tyrant burst and tyrant burst is very easy to counter.

Affliction does comparable rot to boomkin and spriest, the only difference is boomkin and spriest both have multiple forms of instant and casted crowd control to make healers actually fall behind
Affliction’s dmg alone isn’t scary enough to force teams defensive, and because aff has no crowd control, the damage is more easily negated since enemy players have control of their character nearly 100% of the time
