Afflicted Affix HAS to go

imo they should show the range at which they affect and set the range to a distance that could be moved away from.

but the real solution is to have more than one class who can spare a dispel

also, bliz should add an item for classes *without a dispel to be able to do these affixes. like a dispel trinket/ embellishment/ tinker/ consumable on a short CD.

People have it out for afflicted, but I actually really like the affix, if it weren’t for the fact that I’ve been a bit morose as of late, I would’ve been excited for keys this week. :dracthyr_shrug:

It’s just hard to see because I’m spending around looking all over the place to find them. The only issue is when you have a major dispel mechanic for a boss

hey I hope you get in a better place <3

To be fair, if the affix only spawned one every time, right near the healer, I wouldn’t complain. This affix is almost free in a group with 3 friendly dispels but it’s active starting at 7 keys where players might not know what a dispel is or who has them.

For reference: it’s anyone who can dispel friendly curse, disease, or poison. So basically every class that has a healer spec + mage.

I am used to playing with my squad in discord. My pally healer and I coordinate. “I got the one in back, one left behind you” etc. and we rarely miss any. Maybe one in 5 runs.

I got spoiled and used to the Affix being a fun mini game collab.

Played last night without my bro only to see me dispeling one, and the other getting showered in resto druid heal effects, if anything, followed by the debuff.

Look, the fact of the matter is that the affix is fine, but you need a real group for it to go as smoothly as it can go every time.

i’m talking about specific boss encounters where you have to dispel a mechanic over the afflicted and everyone is taking a crap load of damage.

in those cases it needs to be up to others in the party to handle the afflicted

And DKs can heal them with deathcoil!

I had to do that a lot this week while farming aspect crests in pugs

Oof. But does it take one death coil? Or did you have to do multiple on one mob sometimes?

In my gear 16+ requires either 2 death coils or a crit

That is illegal, sorry. Tell your teammates they are banned. :no_good_woman:

My problem with the affix is its design is antithetical of all affixes we’ve had in M+ before. No affix or even dungeon mechanic required commitment of a group resource that only certain classes have access to. Most groups will have duplicate copies of that group resources by accident and most time when even two spawn the healer will have the globals/dispels to handle it.

But for any group that doesn’t have an abundance of dispels and the times when your healer is tapped on free globals/dispel dealing with the mechanics of the pull itself, it can become a major issue. Then throw in the fact that there could be premades that prior to DF S2 had no reason to need multiple dispels which now have to ask a member to swap to an alt, bring somebody else in, hope the healer can get every one, or take a break from challenging keys those weeks, and you find the issue.

It’s easy to form a group that is more than capable of trivializing the affix, as with many affixes. But if you failed at the group composition phase, possibly as long as 7 years ago, the affix can become a major hurdle for the group to overcome during the times when the healer needs their globals to keep their group alive.

But affixes have always, always, always disproportionately affected certain specs within the same role. Necrotic for BDKs, sanguine for frost mages, Legion greivous for everyone except resto druids. I don’t see it as antithetical, when interactions like that have existed in the past. (And some still do.)

The feeling I just had cannot be described with normal worlds.

Sorry man, SL S1 was a bad time for your ilk. Making it a physical debuff so you couldn’t even play against it with AMS was one of the stupidest decisions I’ve ever heard of.

It isn’t an issue with competent people.

Yet I don’t have an issue on my mage with afflicted ever.

Do you not build comps for mplus that have good synergy?

Because it’s not? Do you not use timers to see when afflicted is coming?

It’s almost like people don’t have these things called defensive cooldowns?

Is this your first time doing twenty or higher keys?

Blood DKs, along with all tanks, could kite necrotic. Sanguine for frost mage was annoying but far from a death sentence as the tank could constantly move and you can make use of push backs if needed. All healers (except maybe holy priest at the time) could heal grievous especially if combined with timely defensives from the team.

Most (if not all) affixes have interactions where certain class/spec combinations are better than others. But NONE required any specific composition beyond 1 tank, 1 healer, and 3 DPS until you got near the max possible key range. Yeah a soothe was nice for raging, but both iterations have counterplay without it especially being trash you could move such that the group could always LoS a cast. Outlaw rogues smoked explosives in BFA, but any other DPS spec could also take them out. Bursting (since it was changed to magic) is a priest’s paradise with honorable mention going to mistweaver monk.

No matter which affix you want to consider, there was an option available for all group compositions to handle it without the healer shouldering all responsibility except for perhaps grievous; and then even with grievous that didn’t take any attention away from what the healer already needed to do, they just needed more of it.

I understand what you’re saying here, but for the boss dispel mechanics it’s not just about knowing what the timers are. If the healer has to commit their dispel to a boss mechanic, they won’t have it available for an afflicted mob, making it much more important that they have backup dispels in those dungeons. Not a hard task especially if you’re PUGing, but where some dungeons and most boss fights the healer will always have the ability to use their dispel on the afflicted, the ones that don’t force you to solve at least one of the afflicted without the healer’s dispel.

If you aren’t taking a backup dispell on afflicted week that’s a learn to play issue.

I’m not saying that afflicted is all on the healer. My point is that there being just the healer to deal with it is a comp based issue.

Solution is to build a better comp.

yea, you didn’t read a word i said did you?
