Question: where you thinking about transferring to another server before? Cause I bet no one is thinking about transferring off Whitemane now.
I’m an essential worker with a family, working 9-10 hour days. I help lead raids 2 days a week, three this week, at 8 ST.
Reading that thread, there was a pretty even split of people for and against. Since the epidemic, I’ve had substantially less pay time and queues effect me disproportionately now.
I was farming in Silithus today and was getting ganked multiple times by a group of 10 alliance and right after Blizzard implemented layering I switched layers to avoid them. That prevented me from dealing with that world pvp.

This has got to be one of the most ridiculous posts of the day, and clueless.

when an ony head drops, the number 100 does not even begin to come close to the number of people in stormwind.
Yet i have no issues walking through them to get to the bank AH or mailbox, or interacting with those things. -
No piece of hardware you want to throw money into is going to let you stick 20k people into a noninstanced existence, bad things happen beyond a certain number that the best hardware money can buy will not fix.
You are smoking something you should not be if you think otherwise.
No, You caused the problem, and mother nature went and amplified it multi fold.
Players chose to keep packing servers that there were early forebodings about, and Players have time and again not chosen sensible transfers.
And Mother Nature decided to make you all stay home and play WOW for much longer than normal time periods for more days a week than normal.
So how about you come down off your hiding behind a retail mask high horse, and beat it back to the stable you found it in.
I transferred from Faer when queues were bad, layering was removed and supposedly weren’t coming back.
In the case of Benediction, I truly did not feel queues were that bad and I was completely okay waiting in them. I wasn’t considering transferring, and still am not.
If they got bad enough to impact my guild, I would have brought it to the table though and if we had a majority vote of guildies would have switched.
For those that were considering it, I strongly doubt any will now. No queue, and easy to exploit for personal gain.

Be careful, keep yourself and your family safe.
I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home, even if the solution for doing so was terribly put together at the last minute. -
As your playtime has been squelched, i hope that perhaps you find that when you do get a few precious moments to relax and play, that it assures that you can do so, rather than stare at a login queue the entire time, I think you have more stressful worries right now to deal with.
And that’s not a trick you can keep using with layering cooldowns.
That’s because transfering or rerolling just because of a temporary situation caused by a world wide pandemic is ridiculous.
I am able to wfh pretty regularly fortunately, and when I have to meet in person with specific people of my team we follow CDC guidelines. My SO is in healthcare, so she’s the one we’re really watching out for.
While the queues disproportionately impacted my play if I did get into one, they weren’t bad on my server at all, spiking at the most at 2 hours on ZG launch day. Being in queue is a non-stressor from my perspective on Benediction, if you logged by 7 ST you could get in within 45 minutes. If I got hit by one, I did other things while waiting.
Thanks though, stay safe.
Temporary very likely could last the next 5 months. Regardless of what happens, regardless of queues, layers should not be the solution.
Classic has been out 7 months, all of P1 was layered. If some major servers are layered the next 5 months, more of Classic will have been layered than not thus far.
In fact, I’d prefer servers were scaled to vanilla sizes and queues/transfers were used to reduce populations on servers, with more opened if need be.
It’s because I didn’t mind the queues, and my guildies and I could work around them without any issues.
Yes it is, it’s a Classic Overcrowded Realm experience.
If you don’t appreciate the queues, feel free to transfer to a lower pop realm, and if that’s not to your liking, then there’s always retail WoW with all modern conveniences and commodities like sharding that ruined the game already.
Thank you Blizzard Team. Truly appreciate your support on this, we thank you. Sorry for being jerks, we appreciate your help.
Right but classic is supposed to be around for years.
Speak for yourself Bllizz is the jerks here, i have a 90 day xfer CD that now forces me to play on a layered server that they promised to NOT LAYER after phase 1. So now my friends and family cannot come play on said server i just xfered to because of Blizz. Atleast let people leave the layered servers, you are locking us to a terrible classic experience now.
Possibly, but nearly 7 months being layered when it was stated it wouldn’t be more than the first weeks initially is quite a drastic change. It also sets precedence to how queued servers will be handled.
I also find it likely once Shadowlands and TBC drop, vanilla Classic will be truncated.
ITT beneficiaries complain about layering
@Kaivax, is there any chance we could get a fix for World Buffs this go around with the layers? Is that something even being considered/talked about etc. ^^
From my perspective on Fairbanks, I have personally never seen a que longer then an hour but I did have multiple guildies that posted pics of ques over 2 hours last night at peak time but most of the day there are no ques. As of now we are stuck being layered with no option to transfer off if anyone was even still considering it.
I turned on Asmonds stream for a couple of minutes on Wednesday and he was talking about transferring with Esfand. Both heavily considering it but now I find it very unlikely they would transfer now.
I guess Blizzard is hoping the pandemic stops soon? and people just stop logging in so much so they can turn the layers off again? Seems strange that a game studio is hoping people dont play their game. Cause at this point it seems like the only way layering is going to go away is if people just stop playing.
Once again I don’t disagree that this was very unexpected initially.
But that’s kind of how world wide pandemics work.
