Just wanted to gauge interest in Addons? how do people feel about addons?
Me personally, I feel it takes away from the difficulty of the game. Ive rarely used them in my wow life (started in vanilla).
I'd prefer no addons. Allows everyone to be on equal playing field.
Which do you feel should/shouldnt be allowed etc
Yes to addons. Addons were part of vanilla. No addons = Not vanilla.
NO CHANGES.
Banning addons = allow spammers to spam whatever they want + hatred towards colorblind people
NO CHANGES

Any addons available in Live should be available in Classic.
Ban all addons. If something is deemed necessary by the community make it a toggle in the options menu.

Saying any live addons should be available in classic makes zero sense. How would that even work? Many retail addons are for retail specific features like transmog

Watch the original vanilla collector's edition behind the scenes DVD, they go into detail as to why they made the addon API and allow / promote user interface modification and addons. There are some very good reasons for it, and yes addons were even a thing in beta (pre 1.0)
They will be in classic, sorry. Part of the authentic experience

And many addons that were available for 1.12 won't work with the new interface, either.
I probably didn't put it the best, but of course addons like for transmog aren't going to work. But addons like DBM, Omen (which will be a thing again heh), Recount/Skada, Grid, Clique, Voodoo, ElvUI, quest addons that add quest item locations to the minimap, group finding addons [that don't use the LFD/LFR inerface], etc...
All of those should work just fine.
I don't care as long as people that use add-ons aren't automating their game.
I plan on at most using a threat meter.
I was a fairly hardcore raider during vanilla Rift with no add-ons whatsoever and did just fine.

Im with what was said at the panel on this one. Addons that dont reintroduce things (or similar things) that were specifically specifically turned off for classic... I'm look at you party matchmaking addons.
I have a feeling someones going to make an "ilvl" addon.
Add-ons/macros will be restricted in their functionality but present. As mentioned above, anything that tries to re-introduce retail features is out the door, as is anything that automates play.
I remember having a 'one button does the whole rotation' macro. I hated having to use that, but it became the norm in high-end guilds. I'm glad to see that kind of stuff go.
However, Omen, Damage meters and gear-set add-ons, for example, were part of the experience and every raider's essentials. They don't automate anything, they're just tools, and those I'm fine with.

I'm fine with most of this. Group finding addons regardless should be a no.
I'm sure quest markers will be one of the most popular addons, but I really want to try classic without it, I love reading the quests and following directions, like getting an actual letter or clues to find something.
As long as PFui, PFquest, atlas, cartographer, gatherer, big wigs, hoping details gets ported, if not skada/omen, swing timers, auctioneer, and ofc postal. I'm good.
Pfui gets rid of a lot of extra addons like lazy pig and snowfall key press just to name a couple.
We need super macro too. :)

I played vanilla without one. Yes I started in early March 06, before 1.12, and by then there were already enough quests in the game to level 1 - 60 without having to stop to grind at any point. Yes you do have to globe trot, but if you're willing to put in the effort, they are wholly unnecessary.
I'm looking forward to them killing the add-ons that let you play with one finger.
I was forced to play that way while raiding and it made the game stupid and boring. That's a great change.

I agree with what Ion said during the panel: They have to be very careful about addons because they can enable a lot of the functionality that Classic WoW seeks to avoid.
For example: oQueue functioned as an automatic group finder for a while. Questie can make questing a completely braindead activity (follow the green arrow to win!). GearScore will reduce players to numbers.
A single addon alone can't destroy the community, but the cumulative effect of all these addons easily could.

Addons I would like to see:
Quest addons. I would like to do as many if not all quest in vanilla and see all zones. Not knowing where quest NPC are as you can't see markers is something that should be added.
Elite mob tracking: if I'm near something rear i would like to know about it.
Usable Quest item overlay: if you can use a quest item or need to for a quest it should show next to the tracked quest.
Bag addon: never used one but may in classic
Cartographer: for showing icons on map and clearing the "fog of war"
Auctioneer: to list and find prices easier. I'm not a flipper so dont care much for that I rather play the game.
Warlock dot tracker(forte) or something of some sort.

They will probably keep that in the character screen. But we probably will see "checking i.o" in trade chat spam lol.
Many of the features we see in WoW today started off as Add-ons that were made popular by players. Players made them. Players chose to use them. Guess what, you can choose not to use them, too.
Seeing the iLevel of a character? Look up a thing called "Gear Score".
Quest Guides? Yeup, that was originally an add-on, too, albeit, not as good.
Uninterrupted flight point travel? Yeah, there was an add-on for that, too, at one point.
I guess my point is, why should Classic exclude something that was available in Vanilla just because YOU don't want them, and sooooo many other people did?
