Please in the spirit of Classic Vanilla WoW do not allow addons to be used. It will not be good in any way. Please keep it as close as possible to Classic as you can.
Addons have their place here in present day WoW but not in the past. I want to experience Classic just as it was all those years ago. Clean. I know I can not prevent the aid of web sites like WoWHead but I would still like to see Classic as close as possible as it was back in the day. Please comment if you agree or if you disagree and why.
Addons existed in vanilla though
You can play Classic without any addons as they are optional
They were available in Vanilla, they should be in Classic.
Just make some specific changes to the API to prevent any add-ons that go too much against the spirit of Vanilla to work properly.
You realize there was addons in classic right?
I don’t see how other people using mods prevents you from your goals
Cool as it would be, nah.
If you don’t want addons… then don’t use them.
yeah, I recall using Lua in vanilla.
so addons are most likely to be part of classic.
This makes zero sense. In fact, it makes negative sense.
Addons were in vanilla. How can you state “the spirit of vanilla” when addons were in vanilla?
SMDH.
EDIT: “0 posts”
I had titan panel and I think I had xperl towards the end. Don’t remember if it came out in vanilla or not.
I was using titanbar or whatever it was that allowed me to have extra hotbars within the first week of release.
Nothing is forcing you to download all of those fancy addons. Keep your hands in your own pockets, guy.
edit: might have been kosmos? cosmos?
double edit: it was cosmos.
I’m not your guy, friend
It can, even when it shouldn’t. I’ve been kicked from groups for not using specific add ons before.
I do think the social and gameplay results of breaking all add ons would be interesting to see, although they shouldn’t and won’t do so.
Playing vanilla without a threat meter addon of some sort would be funny.
Vanilla was all about the decursive addon, and when that got broken near the end, it caused chaos, people had to relearn Molten Core, haha.
Next we’re gonna have a thread demanding people use Ventrillo or Teamspeak instead of Discord -_-
Can we also ban any hardware that was not available in 2006? I’m thinking processor speeds, graphics cards, and RAM need to be limited to where they were in Vanilla.
#NoChanges
Or Mumble shudder
I never had to deal with that one, but by going off the name and your reaction I’m taking that as a blessing.
Yeah, it’s an open source project that was pretty decent in 2010 or so but it hasn’t been substantially updated in about 6 or seven years.
Teamspeak actually has kept up with the times and is highly configurable for very large groups. However, the fact that Discord is now the voice comm of choice for most gamers renders this point moot.
