Addons are cheating and they play the game for you by causing bells, whistles, texts, prompts. All you have to do is press the button, one step away from being a bot. No other game has this and it makes player vs player not real. It’s player and their bot vs other player and their bot. We need to have better colors for abilities or more obvious triggers of cool downs and then remove the addons.
so they do not, in fact, play the game for you.
noted.
No. Weakauras do. Other addons do not.
Addons do that for you.
I don’t use them and don’t care if other people use them. I have no respect for weakaura users tho.
Do you and Kennie spend your time just pushing your glasses up your face and saying “AKSHUALLY” irl every time you post or is it just bait
Clear what he means, and you need to be walked to it for some reason
Making hyperbole about what addons do as some bid to remove all addons because they help people play the game is the real bait.
What a long winded way to say yes
They should just autoban everyone who has 4 digit post counts on these forums.
ill just post on an alt
Does that mean I’m safe?
So you hopped on your alt to say that?
average lizard post
I hate having to use and customize addons too, but until Blizzard implements their functionality into the base UI, it is what it is. The game is borderline unplayable without them (for me at least).
We all have access to them, as long as there aren’t any add-ons that can be paid for with $$$, so using them definitely isn’t cheating.
Having said that, I do think the game would be much better if add-ons weren’t [effectively] required.
The main reason I hate them though isn’t because they make the game a lot easier. I hate them because I’m constantly being told that interface actions failed due to one or more add-ons, the game being borderline unplayable every new patch, UI bugging out due to add-ons, LUA errors, etc.
If Blizzard implemented a default form of Gladius/Sarena, BigDebuffs, OmniCD, and OmniBar into the base UI, and then banned add-ons, I would be a happy camper for sure
The other add-ons I could live without, especially weak auras (although I’m sure some weak aura and/or deadly boss mod equivalent would be needed in the base UI as well for pve content).
I think some addons are over-the-top.
I think the vast majority of addons are just for customization and QOL.
I think several addons (big debuffs and a dr tracker) should be baked into the game baseline.
I also think that 99% of posts complaining about addons are by people who also use addons and want an excuse for them being outplayed.
I think it’s people who’ve avoided using addons and are afraid their cr won’t change much by getting them.
There’s always a hierarchy for how op addons are. Gladius was likely looked down on when it first came out but it’s now a staple just to track trinkets and whatever else. Then omnibar and party cd trackers. Big debuffs.
Then weak auras came along and some uses are pretty cool for QoL. Like rotational proc symbols and such. But you have mes’s pack that just highlights everything you’d need to know.
Then you have lossa and don’t even have to look anymore. It just tells you. I don’t know how anyone plays with this, I find it incredibly annoying but, I’m sure it’s customizable to be less so.
Everyone seems to support the use of some/all of these or somewhere in between. I’d love if add ons weren’t a thing but if that were to be the case, some of them basically need baked into the UI. Like gladius and omnibar/cd. Spells and abilities should all have visuals that make it apparent massive changes in damage are coming. It’s hardly fair to have something like Incarn or combust impossible not to notice but then other things like trueshot just have a small icon appear under their buffs. I’d rather them all be on the same page. Sounds can work too like war’s warbreaker though I don’t know about avatar aside from they start bladestorming for a year. You get the point though. Most addons started as ways to fill the gap for the game’s base crap ui but have been evolving into much more.
Nah, you’re too used to being spoon fed. Game functions just fine without them. You just have to focus and think more.
