Addons are floaties

You know the ones you put on kids that cannot swim.

Or they’re dashboard instruments that let operators make informed decisions.

For real. I have this argument with my brother and other buddy constantly (who are both very anti addon, focus frame, macros etc.).

IMO its just pure laziness of not wanting to set up addons, so they shake their fist at the sky wishing other people couldn’t use them so their laziness doesnt put them at a big disadvantage.

they are definitely floaties. Take them off and watch

So many threads with these silly statements/arguments.

The UI is old, the concept of addons for most is to create quality of life enhancements vs. your projection of “hand holding”.

“Hurdy gurrr you like to see buffs somewhere else and DR timers, you bad” lol.

Sure there are some addons that are arguably hand holders but for the most part it’s not about that.

Blame Blizzard for not improving the UI over the years.

Exactly this.

I thought we already explained that most UI things can be tweaked with scripts that don’t require addons.

Please explain to me how my sexymap and bartender are pool floaties

DR timers and trinkets are part of the players ability to play not for something else to keep track for you. Take your floaties off. This game might get better pvp

What about those of us that can’t see all that well and rely on addons in order to even play the game?

Yup. Its like 17 years of built up depth and complexity in a game thats as fast pace as ever with a UI stuck in 2007.

Except that they often kind of line up with CC cds

I never have to look at target DR to bolt them for instance, unless they recently got capped, and then I can just watch my own ability tick down to know when they’ll be off DR

Addons aren’t why you’re getting clapped in the opener by people all the way down at 1400 where it’s mostly just people doing placements as double dps

Floaties for those that cannot “swim” on their own is fine. Others capable of swimming but using a safety device is kind of sad

But wouldn’t a safety device keep them from sinking? And how do you know they do or don’t need the “floaties?”

They would sink. They are still capable of swimming. They are just not good at it, and may never be good at it. Using floaties to swim (float) is not swimming regardless

So the “better pvp” option is to not use tools that make things streamlined and easier to manage and simply “just play” and not bother paying attention to these things?

How is that better PVP? Starting to suspect this is just some troll job with a silly metaphor insult for giggles lol.

Most likely troll but there are genuinely people who believe this… that the game somehow would be better if everyone had to play with incomplete information and not be able to make decisions based on it.

Its not a coincidence they are normally very bad players who also say things like “all CC should share the same DR”.
