I agree, long as i can keep my Arnold voice pack.
Iâm used to it and have accepted thereâs no escaping this in WoW so I just live with it. Only difference is I donât have bars on my screen, they do. Iâm playing another game while responding, I saw your reply but thereâs still a voice calling out what dbm is saying either way, just not from my PC through wow itself(from dbm or bigwigs, etc).
There was a mechanic on Aggramar where he would do a 5 part sequence of tank soaks, raid soaks and a nuke you had to run away from. On LFR through Heroic that sequence was set in stone but on Mythic it was randomized each time it came. And you only had like 3 seconds to figure it out. All the while there were mechanics that required the raid to distance themselves pretty far from one another.
Without Weakauras that fight wouldâve been damn near impossible. And at that point I think thatâs a problem.
And thatâs an acceptable and understandable use there. Iâm just talking about people who donât truly need these addons, they use it anyway just to make the game easier or because its become part of the norm.
I recall that mechanic on heroic, I didnât know it changed on mythic thoughtâŚthat sounds brutal. Thatâs probably one big change they made to throw combat-addons off as Ion has said before they try to work around them best they can.
I still think itâs perfectly acceptable for them to use it, if it helps at all or makes it easier on them. Weâre all here to have fun right? Letâs keep it at that!
I honestly think it wouldâve made the fight just impossible. Having only 3 seconds to figure out what comes next in the sequence and properly react to it is just insane. I think they just need to stop trying to work around combat addons and focus more on fun and enjoyment. Personally I hold the mentality that if the fight is tons of fun to do, no combat addon like DBM is going to water down the experience.
Bars? Like a counter? Whoâs âtheyâ? DBM users? The person doing a callout?
See, I donât use DBM. Iâve seen people even fail simple dungeons like Mara. Three people died 'cause they didnât move out of the green stuff, once those oozes died. So, I typed out where they went wrong and an easier way to get to the boss, in question.
And they followed. This is Retail.
In Vanilla Classic, I lead so many BRD runs, itâs not even funny. That pathway to Bulâgar (lava boss, when someone with a Key or Rogue, unlocks that gate, on the left, by the entrance) is really tough, in Vanilla Classic, that Iâm calling out for CCs and commanding the kill target.
It can be rough in Retail, too but not as rough as Vanilla Classic.
To me, thatâs not cheating. Itâs a form of communication.
I have my weak auras set in a way that I literally do not need to look at my hotbar at any moment. I donât even have them visible after I memorize my key bidings. All the feedback I need I get from small signals at the sides of my screen, and I can better focus on the game, with no need to even keep track of my soul shards. Honestly, if I would ever lose access to this, I would stop playing wow. At this point, I wouldnât stand the game without the âluxuryâ some addons proportionate me
I do use addons but not ones that are really important except maybe BadBoy. Itâs a shame that I need Badboy to counter spam that Blizz is not taking care of, properly but I digress.
I even use an addon to make the Retail UI look like the Classic Ui. And, Blizz really needs an animated portrait option. Some of the Quest stuff have those boxes that pop up, above your action bars with the animated person, but the health bar portraits are stillâŚstill images. Get with the times, Blizz!!!
actually, i do now thanks to the thread. someone who is actually nice explained it to me so⌠hope that helps you understand sometimes being helpful is the best route
Thereâs a reason Blizzard doesnât include them in their version of the game.
I was told by someone above it is actually meant to allow other developers to interact and make for better content/experiences which is AWESOME! I still have zero clue how to do it though
