Addon Channel Spamming - it's against TOS

With out further citation, that post is the only thing saying it’s happening, that’s hearsay.

They gave you details where you could look them up.

So there’s now been many reports of Blizzard silencing (not squelching) people who are using addons that announce rares being up in General Chat in Mechagon and Nazjatar.

You can read the reports in the comments sections of the addons on the various websites (curse, wowace, etc.), and even a few threads on reddit. I’m afraid to post the addon names as apparently they aren’t being allowed now, but it’s not hard to find them.

When was the last time a real conversation happened in general chat or trade chat? I shall be patiently waiting with your source.

And I’m on Curse looking. I see nothing. Anyone can say I saw something, but if there’s no proof then it’s hearsay, and tbh, the burden of proof isn’t on me to prove they’re right. They may very well be. It may be happening. But until there is evidence, it’s hearsay.

This is the truth. In fact, I never hear anything in general most of the time and find these addons that announce rares to be helpful.

Yep, people running this addon actually helped me get pathfinder part 2.

yesterday on my server - haven’t been on enough this morning yet

Thank you, sir.

You must have missed the part where I asked for a source, I shall still wait patiently.

Do people not talk on your server ? I have no idea how I am going to provide a ‘source’ for a conversation on trade or general chat because they aren’t that rare that I take screenshots of them.

I could I guess hop on over to moonguard since people are ‘chatting’ all the time over there about politics but what exactly do you mean by a source ?

I now play on Frostmourne, the most active Oceanic realm, general chat is either filled with people trolling eachother, or this addon.

The realm this toon is on though? Pretty much dead, apart from the odd few people running said addon.

Why would I play on Moonguard? I like my 14ms.

what part of the ToS?

also when you have to scream about the ToS, nobody cares what you have to say anymore. youre the kid who reminded the teacher there was homework the night before

I asked you what you consider a ‘source’. I didn’t ask you to play on moonguard.

deal with it. It helps people get to rares on time. You are free to turn off chat

Never said you did, and by source I mean actual screenshots or links to people having friendly conversations over general chat on mechagon or nazjatar… you know… where people are farming the rares for mount drops or rep for Pathfinder Part 2.

I could easily say on the forums “Oh nah, Saurfang is super active, we chat all the time on general chat” but I wouldn’t because the realm is bleeding players to the 2 bigger Oceanic realms.

The example you used… Rustfeather… yeah… That one drops a mount.

Your “point” would make sense if we were talking about a game like EVE Online where channels are actually used all the time. Channels are part of how you play the game. Chat channels in WoW are simple channels to let you talk to other people in the same zone. There is never a need to switch to another, unless you’re trying to talk in guild or party.

So no, most people won’t even think about switching channels because that’s not a thing people typically do in WoW.

I haven’t been to mechagon or nazjatar today and sorry I don’t take screenshots of every conversation that happens, but don’t ask people when was the last time a real conversation happened and then ask them to proof it because people aren’t going to be able to do that unless they are currently in the middle of one.

From what I understand trolling is a national pasttime of aussies so I am not surprised that is all people do on your chat.

You don’t play on the bigger US realms, do you? Illidan(Horde but meh) alone is twice as worse as Frostmourne.

Don’t even get me started about Sargeras…

I really don’t think it is beyond people to click a different tab - all blizzard would have to do it highlight the tab once for people when they logged on.
