Well let me tell you about my experience in EQ, I was in a world first guild and at times was the only enchanter for a 40 to 70 man raid. The mana regen buff and haste were on me as well as the CC and Magic Reduction. It was tough and tiresome. I do not expect it to be the same as it was back than.

Yep. You can’t live in fear of these moments. Especially when those moments are absolutely harmless and actually fun.
I was a Shaman. I feel your pain as far as functionality goes, but I still yearn for something that conceptually matches up. That’s why I picked Shaman when I picked up WoW.
And I’ve said it a few times in this thread, but it bears repeating - I don’t think anyone wants a return to those days mechanically. They want to see what a modern team can deliver with that concept in mind. It would be just as far from its roots as any other role.
I’m already done with the FFXIV MSQ up to the latest patch and there aren’t any interesting grinds to Endwalker’s relics, I’m ready to play support in WoW now.
It’s not some lack of imagination. I oppose fixing things that aren’t broken. Adding a fourth role will make the game that much harder to balance–something that is already a struggle and the cause of a lot of grief.
Just as an idea isn’t necessarily bad because it’s new, an idea isn’t necessarily good just because it’s new either.
Likewise. A modernized WoW support has a ton of potential.
But Shadow Priests have sucked for years, and people are very forgiving of Shadow Priests, they know they bottom of the dps pile but they get a free pass for bad dps even if everyone knows they’re garbage,
So I think people would accept a Bard class is a support role
This is completely untrue. Shadow may have some gameplay problems, but it has been tuned high very frequently, particularly when you consider PI.
This would never work as a patch.
It’d have to be an expansion launch thing.
Because if it was added as a patch, they’d only really be able to add a single spec, and queue times would be redonkulus, because then there’d only be a single spec in the game that could fill that role in the queue.
Whereas if they did it as an expansion launch, and released multiple new specs across a few classes to fill that role, it’d work much better and could ease groups into this new role.
In other words, this isn’t happening, because this supposed new role is supposedly a patch feature.
It was probably poor wording choice for a 2nd healing spec if anything. Probably an Earth-based healing spec focused around using Black Dragon Earth-based magic to cast absorb spells like Discipline, mixed with Green, since that’s in the Class Tree.
Speak for yourself. I miss my EQ shammy. I used to hang out in newbie zones buffing low levels to godhood for 10 minutes.
