Adding a "Support Role" would be terrible for wow

Wow has had tanks, healers, and DPS since inception. It’s a core part of what makes WoW WoW.

Adding a fourth “support” role would be next-to impossible to balance. It would either be mandatory in every group or completely worthless.

I really hope this never happens and the new datamined Neltharion dialogue is unrelated.

As soon as I saw some of the posts in the unpopular opinions thread, I said to myself “this will spawn so many other threads.”

“Support and bolster allies” could 100% be a tank that supports allies by making sure they don’t get hit in the face and bolster with buffs.

After seeing how the forums reacted to Power Infusion, I knew that if they ever made a buff class that I’d never be bored again.

Popcorn anyone?

They said in interviews before DF launched that we didn’t need more tank specs, so that does seem unlikely

Unlikely but not impossible. We’ll have to see.

Yes. Which is why they would need to actually add a Support role. Increase group size to six, or eliminate a DPS slot. Evokers, Paladins, Shamans, Priests, and Warlocks would all be fantastic to start with for Support specs.

Now we’re changing 5-player group content that we have all known and loved forever to fit this ridiculous concept? :face_vomiting:

It’s not ridiculous. The game literally launched with two support classes. The role has been supported in MMOs before and after WoW. And speak for yourself - I’ve been salty about the support role being gutted for nearly two decades.

There has never been a support role in wow.

I have no idea how it would work NOW but no lie, I’d play a support class.

I’d be okay with working a few existing specs into them or just adding a new spec to a few classes. (Warlocks, Shaman, and paladin all seem like they could join evoker in support.)

I doubt that’s what woiuld happen however. It’s a HUGE shift.

Shaman was sold to the players as the offensive Support class, whereas Paladin was the defensive Support class. Both performed the Support role admirably, if not at a less impactful efficiency than some contemporaries.

Op,tell you the truth you only need one tank, one dps, and one healer for most dungeons actives, yet I can hear the screams from the healer ego coming though saying, “We don’t need you we have too much heals” <this was the case of my disciple priest. So in all it can work out just fine if they do do this.

they never said this.

Remember when certain classes and specs used to have a heavier support role? Blessings some how come to mind but I must be dreaming.

But let’s trash those old classes so we can prop up more scaly agenda.

Support spec would be a biiiiiggg deal , it would mean other classes would also get it .

I think you’re going to have a hard time getting your teleports with 3 player m+ groups

I don’t remember if it was Morgan Day or Ion that said it, but 100% they did.

Yeah like they couldn’t just add it to evokers. THey would need to add a few more.

I’m I worried about that ,No,
