Tinker class has a long history in the Warcraft series. Please add this class already, Blizz! Give it healing and dps talent trees!

It could easily have a tank, heal, and DPS spec.
I’ve been saying for a while just based them off Overwatch characters.
D. Va for the tank spec, Anna for the heal spec, Torbjorn for the DPS spec.
Mail armor and guns (possibly dual!) for weapons.

I wonder what would happen to the engineering profession if tinker became a class. Would it be retired? Or, would tinkers automatically have +50 skill in it or something?
They wouldn’t do that.
Engineering profession is NOT the Tinker class.
They could co-exist.

What is Tinker, then? I keep hearing it’s like the mechanist in GW2 which is (what I play in GW2 and) basically someone who does engineering in combat.

Go look at those characters. Any ideas of Tinkers would be those regardless if that game existed or not.
The absence is getting conspicuous at this point. The War Within launch content actually made me wonder if such a class was finally coming, what with all the Earthen lore, including some of them having Tinker-like backpacks.
Then we finally go to Undermine of all places, and still nothing.
I keep saying, two major things that don’t help the popularity of Goblins and Gnomes are the lack of last names and a proper Tinker class.
Both of those things are incredibly iconic to those races and their identity, but players still don’t have access to them. I made a Goblin Hunter when Mechanical pets were added, but it still just doesn’t feel right.
I don’t even know how much I’m personally invested in such a class, but it needs to happen at this point. In hindsight this would have been a perfect expansion for it, but maybe we can still hope that this is just leading up to it.

We’ve had several expansions where it would have fit the theme, including this one, but it hasn’t been added. The safe assumption is Blizzard has no plans currently to add it. It definitely doesn’t fit the theme of the next expansion.

Again, we have to look at how and why they would introduce them. It’s too late in the current expansion to develop a whole new class. Midnight shows no sign of being the kind of story that would introduce a tinker. Last Titan maybe?

Nah, healing tinkers would be apothecaries chucking potions like rice at a wedding.
What would happen to the enchanting profession of mage became a class?

I doubt the Last Titan’s going to involve gnomes or goblins heavily, but it is the expansion of this saga we know the least about.

I’ve never seen the interest with the idea. Almost every design I’ve seen borrows from or is very similar to other classes. Using guns and explosives for example, is very much like Hunters. Using mechanical pets, also like Hunters. Zapping things, much like Shamans. Blowing things up, much like Engineering (as much as people want to deny it, its very difficult to separate a profession that deals with making things like weapons, bombs and mechanical pets and toys from a class that uses the same sorts of things).
I think if you want to introduce a new class it has to be significantly unique and not just take things away from other classes. I could see, for example, hunters losing their guns to give them to Tinkers. Just as Demon Hunters took Metamorphosis away from Warlocks.

I’m sure melee players would love having giant mechs blocking their vision of all the ground effects they’re trying to dodge.

I will forever rage, seethe, and cry in despair at the loss of what could have been. We should have gotten the ghost buster tinker’s in shadowlands like we were promised in the shadowlands leaks.
I would have loved tinker being a hero class with the class flavor, themes, and abilities based around ghost busting. They could have been an elite squad tasked by the order of Oribos to hunt particularly dangerous creatures that disrupt the balance of the shadowlands or some such.
Either way we were robbed, and we better get tinker’s in Midnight or Last Titan.
I hope we get a Bard class. Not interested in Tinker.

Engineering. Tinker is a title for engineers.
Until people can figure out a way to de-engineer Tinkers as a class concept and present it in a way where most races could be part of it, I’d rather have classes that are unique and interesting. Not just the same name regurgitated over and over again with people ignoring that tinkers is just the title some engineers go by.
