So I have several account in our house. Four to be exact. I thought it was six, but wife informed me it was four. We all play the game in our house. So for the third time I have had my personal account banned. All three times were related to the use of bots. This is the reason they are giving me anyways. So the first two times , one my account was hacked, second time was something to do with my add ons. Both times before I was able to resolve the issue over the phone. This time, I am unable to actually talk to anyone over the phone. I have appealed it via the online tool and I have emailed several of the different contacts listed. The previous bans were were for one week, then 3 weeks. Not so bad, but they were both resolved over the phone and the next day I was able to play. This time around though is for 180 days. ouch!
I just opened this account and boosted to 110 and I am starting over. But the reason I am posting this is so maybe you, my fellow subscribers, can help me figure out which add on is triggering the ban/suspension. I am not trying to hide anything, in fact I hope to get a blue response too. All the accounts have their own authentication fob, which is zip tied to the computer on which the particular account is played on.
List of add ons:
Auctionator
MaxDPS (for each of the different classes plus the core add on)
WOWhead Looter client
Ask mr Robot
Ask Mr Robot client
WOW Matrix
BTW Quest
BTW Quest for BFA
BTW Quest for BFA Prologue
BTW Quest for legion
BTW Quest for classic
I was told by both Blizzard and Curse gaming these are legal add ons over previous phone conversations.
Kinda interested in hearing something about this too. I know that there were some recent 180 day suspensions for something that there was a pinned-post about, but the post was vague (just said something about compromising the security of the Battlenet client or something) and some suspensions were overturned because they realized people were just using them for character model customization or some such.
But that post is gone now and I don’t know if this is related to that. But if there’s some addon out there that’s triggering bans I would sure like to know what it is so I can avoid it (or remove it if I’m already using it).
Also, bear in mind bottling is a catch all. If you can make macros in your mouse or keyboard, this may be the culprit as well.
So, for example, if you made a keyboard macro to charge, hamstring, whirlwind, I don’t k ow just naming warrior abilities here haha in the keyboard all via one button press, that is automation. That falls under bottling.
I do t know the culprit or cause just throwing this out there. Also, not saying you did anything or not.
Are you the only one using that PC, if not their might be a program that you aren’t seeing being run from someone else who installed it and Blizzard is seeing that and banning any account that is online while that program has been running.
I have one macro for misdirect. It misdirect on my pet when I have no focus target and it also will misdirect to my focus target if i have one.
Now i know for sure that Ask Mr Robot must use some sort of macro that i do not see visually, that swaps my gear out when I switch specs. Maybe I will email Ask Mr Robot. The girl over there is very nice and has been a great help to me in the past. Maybe she can help me out here too.
Thank you, I would have never considered a macro to be a trigger.
Like I said, bitting is a general term. Automation falls in there too.
I strongly doubt it is robot. I have it to log with. Gear does not incur any sort of GCD, and I can swap gear with the press of a button in the default UI anyway.
I know nothing about hunters. Is the misdirect macro made in game, or via keyboard or mouse software. Does it contain any pauses to account for global cooldowns?
If it is in the Blizzard macro itnis almost certainly fine. For example, I have one to cast sundering and use trinket slot 13.if 13 is on cool down use 14
Trinket use does not trigger a gcd so it is fine. And I made it in the Blizzard macro window.
If you did make it via keyboard or mouse, you have found your culprit.
Blizzard has made it impossible for LUA addons to be used as bots. If they feel an addon is automating too much activity, they have the capability to disable that addon. If they feel that an API gives addons too much access, they will change or eliminate the API.
The most likely cause is something is running on the PC that triggers Blizzard’s background anti-cheat agent. If you’re using Windows 10 and on version 1903, make sure it is up to date because one of the known issues was it interfered with anti-cheat software.
I once got a ban, supposedly for botting, and I hate botters and would never dream of using anything to play the game for me. Back then I even used the basic UI and no addons or macros.
The email I received gave me no way to question this decision, and I was just lucky to have a friend with an active account help by ringing Blizzard for me and the rep agreed to talk to me. He said I must be botting because I was playing around 20 hours a day.
I’m an oldie who was very ill at the time and undergoing painful treatment and could not sleep, so rather than use too many pills I kept a laptop with me and played pretty well continually to ease the pain.
There was also an issue at the time with some players getting bans for having something on their PCs to lower ping rates, and I had that installed. When I explained things the rep reluctantly agreed to have the matter reopened.
It took them 3 days to investigate and then I found my account reinstated.
No, it isn’t. If your character were to use all three of those abilities with a single keystroke, that would be automation. If it were three keystrokes, even if those were the same key, then you’d be correct.
Again that isn’t automation, if I can use 3 fingers to press those 3 keys at the same time, it would be no different then me pressing 1 key with 1 finger, there is a reason this game has a variety of castsequences etc.
As I stated I was just naming warrior abilities. Do they incur a gcd? If the answer is yes, and you use a keyboard or mouse to do it in one button press due to adding a pause in the macro, that is indeed automation
I just picked 3 abilities I knew the name of. I assumed they all had a gcd. If they all do indeed have a gcd, you can’t do it in the wow macro api via one button press for all 3, and I am right. And I do know what I am talking about.
If they do not have a gcd please pick 3 abilities that do and substitute them in. That was my point.
Listen. Lay off my phat fingers haha. I am creatively trying not to accomplish anything at work atm. It may be causing me to have a few id10t errors along the way, k?
And admit it. We all k ow I am goi g to type fast on my phone, not proofread, and come up with some epic typos.
At least the forum software has saved me from a few bans as I cannot post that word haha.
