I’ve had groups full of chitchat and groups that were silent and all-business. There’s definitely more of the latter kinds of dungeon runs now than there were back in og vanilla/TBC/early wrath.
So, while LFD implementation does detract from socialization in-game, there is much less of that nowadays than there were back then, so LFD is less problematic now.
I still don’t think it’s perfect. I think the extra rewards the LFD tool grants needs to go. Forming the group and letting you access the content is its own reward. Shouldn’t need the extra rewards to be there too. If people want to farm emblems they will still get the emblems that drop from the dungeons themselves. Not having extra rewards in LFD puts people who use LFD on equal footing with people who don’t. With extra rewards associated with LFD, the two camps are not on equal footing.
The way I feel about LFD in 2022 is the same way I feel about same-faction x-realm BGs. It does detract from server community and immersion (just feels weird to be fighting the same faction in BG) and I personally dislike it. However I do see the need for such a tool in today’s atmosphere, so that more people can access the content in this case PvP. I’m ultimately OK with it because same-faction BG doesn’t grant any extra rewards over different-faction BGs. So now, when I encounter one, I just AFK out. But if same-faction BGs granted say, 5 BG marks instead of the 3 that regular BGs do, I might not be as ready to just AFK out. In this case I wouldn’t be staying for the same-faction BGs, I would be staying for the extra marks.
I think he means the tool will still give you a pop up when the group is formed. You’ll get the 5 green check marks and the party forms. The current tool doesn’t do that.
I don’t see how that is different than it currently is. It still requires Tanks and healers to queue which isn’t happening. The issue isn’t the system, it’s the population. There is no incentive for people run Heroics (aside from the daily) After they out gear the content. If there is no badge gear available and you are Bis… Why would you run heroics (currently).
So you only get Alts, or new people… which decrease over time as well. Thus limiting the pool on your server to 0.
Why should people be forced to interact with you socially if they’re not interested in doing so to begin with?
You are still free to talk to people in LFD. Nothing is stopping you from doing this.
You also didn’t provide evidence that it removes the need for people to interact socially. You just made a statement as if it’s a natural fact of the universe. I dont’ see any reason to believe that simply because people insist it’s true.

LFD wasnt bad, LFR was bad, Blizzard not listening to The majority of the player base is bad. literally every one of my old friends from Wotlk refused to come back because of the no LFG feature that was an Anti Gatekeeping tool for the game.
You just explained every iteration of WoW ever. Even vanilla was like this except for raids. People formed the group, did their part and left after it was done. There is much socializing in dungeons. You’re being delusional and pretty stubborn because you refuse to believe anything other than what you believe is the truth.
You’re right. I’m not interested in talking about the weather with anyone and I will not discuss politics or religion in any pug I’m in. But it’s not like MMO’s lean on that nor would I attempt to shut it down if it happened. I pug a lot because healing dungeons is the most fun thing to do in this game for me. I even heal normals even though I no longer need heroics. Even if I’m quiet I’d see the other 4 people in the group chatting up a storm. But it almost never happens. I see two possibilities as to why you claim there’s a lot of chatter in the pugs you do. Either you’re an extreme extrovert and you make it happen by constantly initiating conversation or you’re lying. I’ve met people with that problem who can’t stop talking. They don’t even realize they’re not letting anyone else get a word in edgewise. Try being quiet in a pug or two and you’ll see what a normal pug is like if you’re not there constantly chattering away.

I socialize plenty in guild and in my life. I just don’t do it in pugs and neither do 99% of the other people in pugs. You’re fooling your self if you think it does or you’re lying to push your agenda. Once again even if I’m quiet that wouldn’t stop the other 4 people in the pug from chatting if that was what was normal for them in pugs. It just doesn’t happen.
Maybe you should group with your guildies/friends if you’re just interested in speed clearing dungeons without socializing with others whatsoever in an MMO.
Maybe your lack of socialization and thus friends to play with is why you need to resort to a LFD tool and being toxic by booting others if they’re not anti-social like you and not speed clearing dungeons,
People tend to be extremely awkward so it is a them thing. Rarely do I find someone who isn’t incredibly nerdy/awkward to be around in this game so why would I socialize with them? I am there to do a dungeon, not listen to them struggle to interact with a human for 30 minutes
