Under your extreme scenario where you cherry pick “what happens at 4 AM when only 15 players play?” then I say my proposed system wouldn’t perform worse than the current system so your counter point has no actual merit
so what happens if everyone solo syncs solo queue?
some get a bg pop, some do not ![]()
More like literally any time of day outside prime time and sometimes even during prime time
Well in that case it would mean the game is dead and we’ll both move on with our lives instead of playing this game and talking about systemic improvements on this forum wouldn’t you agree
The game is definitely dying, has been for a long time. Good thing you aren’t in charge though
Good for your own interests you mean
Because I’m really out there to get you and prevent you from having fun with your 5 man premades ![]()
Yes, obviously. Since your solution was to end premades
Bad take by someone who doesn’t like to group in a group-based MMO
If your solution was actually intended to make premades fight premades, that would be great. But your idea is by far the worst I’ve heard for this. It either just doesn’t work because there aren’t enough people or it does work and people don’t get queues lol. Win win for all
What happened to ignoring me? Can’t find the button?
To be fair, WoW hasn’t been a real group-based MMO for a very long time.
You’re not wrong, they make this game far friendlier for solo players but if I had a chip on my shoulder about people who play with friends I’d likely be just as miserable as people who complain about premades
And if I was that miserable I just wouldn’t play the game.
Ahhh, yes. The classic “I play with friends” and “RBGs are dead”. You know what would bring RBGs back? The gaggles of backpeddling keyboard turners queue’ing RBGs instead of exploiting to run 30 man premades through epics. ![]()
But let’s be honest, if they wanted competition they’d do this. Clearly, that isn’t the goal ![]()
Why are you talking to me about epics
Because we’re talking about premades and RBGs being dead, duh.
We’re talking premades in a thread with the first sentence being “add hidden MMR to random bgs” and you thought we were talking epic bg sync queueing premades?
I don’t sync queue or play epics and we’re very clearly talking about 5 man premades in random bgs
And yes, RBGs are dead. Nothing you have said changes this
I guess? Glancing at the PvP leaderboards it looks pretty active. 278 games in the last 72hrs, it’s not RSS/BGB active, but it’s active. Maybe you just need more friends?
278 games over the busiest days of the week - a weekend? That’s an extremely small amount likely played by a devoted and tiny community of people who still play RBGs
But you’re right, to appease the epic BG community that I don’t take part of, I should go and play RBGs.
You say I should make more friends, the other guy is mad that I have any friends at all. Yet you’re the one complaining about it, so why don’t you make friends and go play RBGs? Then you don’t have to worry about me and my non-existent epic BG sync queue group lmao
They’d be better off putting DR on healers healing each other and implementing dampening.
The big problem right now in BGs is that no one dies. That wasn’t an issue in the past when about half of each team was undergeared, leading to smaller fights between the well-geared players on each team.
Couple that with defensives being more powerful now than a few years ago, and every class having more mobility, and you get an environment that’s just generally unfun.
No one dies because people don’t know how to focus target or hit the people without defensives, which supports bobs statement about incompetence in random bgs. This game really isn’t hard to play, but when you solo q and only a couple people know what they’re doing, it makes the game pretty unenjoyable when you want to win. Which is why it’s nice going in with a team of 5 that know how to play the game, regardless of how good they are. The best games are when it’s a 5v5 pre-made as you know obj will be done on each side and there’s actual competition(without any rating attached to it), not a bunch of people that don’t read chat call outs and instead have 8 people sit in the friendly keep with our flag while the efc runs free without any offensive pressure from your team, for example.
Queues are also much faster than rated, especially once you get to a certain rating. Playing in a group of 2-5 is a nice way to unwind without having to play at 100% of your capability, unlike you should be in rated battlegrounds/bgb.
They are some of the best games. However the experience I have is that those games are not consistent. I’ve been on both sides of the coin.
I have been in premades and stomped gy’s facing pugs. I have been gy camped facing a premade with no premade on our team.
I have seen a bunch of premaders AFK out of the BG because our Premade was winning (we had a bunch of R1 and 2400+ exp players on our team)
However there is too often 5 man premades fighting a bunch of pugs or a duo.
So to make it easier to win basically… could do rated but dont lol
Agreed
No, not basically. That completely ignores what I said. What it does is give you a fighting chance facing other good groups. If two premades fight each other, one has to lose. So it didn’t make it easier to win for one of those groups, but it did give them a better chance
It’s not about stomping pugs, it’s about bringing people for the fun games
I’ve already addressed this comment above
There is no rated mode you can queue with five friends, you need ten. Nobody on my friends list plays a tank, I am one of two healers we usually play with and I typically can’t fill a group of 5 players let alone 10. So now I have to go to lfg to find players to fill the missing spot in a bracket that’s dead and people leave after the first loss.
Spend an hour looking for people to fill, wait for a game to start in a dead bracket, lose one game and have all the random pickups leave. If you can even find them. Nobody will explain why the above is an adequate solution. It’s an awful solution
Instead what I can do is queue with my friends, goof off in disc and sit up straighter when we get a hard game. Makes a lot more sense than “you could just play rated but don’t”
