Please add back trainer+class customization back. I love how in classic you are able to choose spells/abilities from across the three specs from retail and mold it into one class. Having affliction warlock spells mixed with demonology and destruction is extremely cool and should be added back into retail along with the other classes. In retail it feels like im a clone of everyone elses character cause everyone is using the same meta setup and it doesnt feel cool being a clone.
I liked it too, but Blizzard felt that their players couldn’t handle having choices or customization (their words). They felt that we were too confused to figure it out.
amen brother!
Well then, that feels rather insulting lol.
which has always felt like an insult really, because gobs of other games still uses a similar system, even single player RPG’s…but just wow people couldnt handle it?
They said PvP vendors are confusing… well yeah when you add them in the middle of nowhere. The MoP PvP vendors are in the middle of a wall-bridge for some stupid reason.
It was cookie cutter in Vanilla and it would be again.
It’s probably because they added extra classes and races and are having a hard time balancing them all . It’s easier to balance when every class is forced into a similar build.
when has anything truly been ever “balanced” in wow.
Right but imagine how much more exponentially things would be out of whack if each class had multiple meta builds …?
Hey if the developers of path of exile can handle it, im pretty confident that blizzard can handle it. Have you seen that PoE stat screen?
Nope…but considering the difficulty of Blizz in balancing classes with the homogenization we have now I am pretty sure they will be worse with more class choices
My understanding is that they changed the talent system precisely because players felt they did NOT have enough meaningful choices to make.
For example: Every fire mage in Vanilla had almost the exact same talents as any other fire mage. Almost all of the talents for a given spec fell into the “required” category (You were an idiot if you didn’t take them).
Result was only a few talent points were leftover to differentiate your fire mage from the next fire mage.
Blizzard changed the talent system in an attempt to actually increase player choice. Instead of just 3 talent choices, now players would get 8 meaningful choices.
Unfortunately, Blizzard royally screwed up and most of the talents in the new system have obvious right and wrong answers. Result is instead of 8 meaningful talent choices most classes are down to just 1 or 2.
Oh just go away with that stuff. Let classic be classic and leave retail alone
only for neckbeards it was
this only applied to raiding.
Wow so that was most of the Vanilla population then!
Actually no.
It applied to PVP too. There were “cookie cutter specs” for both raiding and PVP. And for any experienced player almost all of the talents were obvious… with no real sense of choice.

It was cookie cutter in Vanilla and it would be again
That is not a good excuse for dumbing down the game to the point where people no longer need to think.

Wow so that was most of the Vanilla population then!
There were hierarchies of neckbeards
Not everyone raided, there were these things called professions where you had to farm, there was always an optimal spec for that. You had a specific spec optimal for leveling to 60, and of course there were also specs for PVP.
