Add A 4th Row to Great Vault for Open-World Content

Instanced content shouldn’t be the only “endgame” that can benefit from the Great Vault.

Why can’t open-world content be added as well?

For example: Kill 1 World Boss for 1st unlock, Complete 20 world quests for the 2nd unlock, kill 30 rares for the third unlock.

Obviously the gear ilvl and transmogs should be limited to what’s available in the open-world (perhaps add a couple more ilvls, much the same way M+ does, but not much), but why not add another way for casuals to obtain gear and not feel left out of the Great Vault?

It should of been like this since 9.0

I like it.

I’d say make it so any one of those unlocks a tier in any order, but you have to do all three to get all three…

No.

M+ doing this is already a massive problem that turns The Vault from bad luck protection / bonus loot to “the only thing that matters” for many players. Normalize M+ EoD rewards and scratch the bonus ilvl from the Vault.

This is all fine.

Given ilvl for Open World content tends to be tied to some longer-term grind, I think it’s only fair that the ilvl in the Vault be tied to whatever your current progression in that system is, though. Rather than just automatically defaulting to max World Content ilvl or something.

I’d also suggest that Heroic Dungeons count for the Dungeon row. If LFR counts for Raiding, Heroics should count for Dungeons (with an appropriately low ilvl reward, ofc).

this idea seems so simply that it now feels odd that it’s not already like that.

Would it be a bridge between questing gear and raid gear? (as examples)

I believe that’s what the ilvl setup for open world content is going to be in 9.2, which is slightly below normal raid iLvl, so in effect it would be a bridge if someone chose that route.

Then people get mad when it caps out at 226 or whatever, because there’s no real way to increase the actual difficulty and thus the rewards in the open world.

No way they’d make EOD loot that high when it’s spammable. They’d have to put a weekly lockout on each dungeon.

Yeah, pretty solid tbh.
And hand out 210 ilvl pieces.

Good. M+ needs that too. Tie the lockout to the Keystone, 3 charges or whatever, consumed to open EoD chests and transfers to the new key you earn. It’s the exception to the rule right now and that’s another problem. Until it has a lockout – even if its a unique lockout system since M+ functions differently than other content – they will be unable to properly balance its rewards against other forms of content. It’s been a problem since it was added.

This is such a fantastic idea.

It has an effective lockout now since the vault is the main reward and it’s only giving one item/week.

i don’t see anything wrong with this idea.
+1

In a vacuum thats fine. But it doesn’t exist in a vaccum, so that means of providing a pseudolockout just ensures its the only row that matters, especially to players not pushing Mythic Raiding. That ilvl bump makes it so. It’s not a good solution.

I rather them making each category, the three end games, Raid, Mythic + and PvP be able to be chosen a piece of gear instead of given literally only one piece from potential 9 options. Given the crap RNG that Raids’, and even Dungeons’ drop rate for anything is abysmal, we deserve better at getting what we couldn’t get to drop at all for the content we did. Sure, Great Vault gave us ONE piece of gear for our trouble but that’s all we get but why only one when we did more than just one of the three things? We really should have been able to loot at most three from the vault.
