Apparently, you already do. Do I owe you rent?
Since I don’t give a damn about what you think, especially when you desperately tried to pull a “lol same thing from other threads”, do you think I would dignify you with an answer?
Especially after you got destroyed for the same reason in the other thread?
You replied to me a lot this morning. Something doesn’t seem right here.
Yeah I chose to reply. Why not?
Rent check is in the mail.
Rent check is in the mail…
Unless it’s equal to Bobby Kotick’s bonus cheque no one wants it.
Git gud
Or Square Enix, if they have a passion for the games, can just turn down the buyout. No?
At least that’s what i would do if i have a game studio and some multi-billion dollar company come up to me and said “we want to buy you so you can work under us”.
Sometimes it doesn’t really work that way. Hostile take overs are a thing and they don’t always get the option.
Yeah is the number 2 producer going to buy the number 3 producer? Probably not, but they can at least make some noise about it to make the number 1 producer afraid. Thinking about it, not sure who’d fit in those slots lol. I know EA, ActivisionBlizzard, and Square-Enix are in the top 3 slots though. Xbox, Sony, Nintendo, and Capcom would be close behind.
I’d rather they stay separate even if an FF14-WoW crossover would be neat.
So what do you think would happen if ActivisionBlizzard buys out Square-Enix?
They would probably ruin FF14, would not be happy.
Blizzard probably hoping it isn’t Microsoft or someone with deeper pockets.

Plot twist: Microsoft abandons the attempt to buy discord and instead goes after Activision Blizzard to snatch additional game studios
So what do you think would happen if ActivisionBlizzard buys out Square-Enix? How do you think that would effect both games (more so WoW because this is the WoW Retail Forums after all)? Would you want to have 1 or 2 different subscriptions? All that sorts of fun conspiracy theories of what could happen! Oh and yes, cross overs that you’d love to see.
Given Squeenix has a direct competitor to World of Warcraft in Final Fantasy XIV, I’d say the courts might consider it an anti-trust acquisition and bar it on that account. Generally speaking, buying your competitor out to eliminate competition doesn’t go down well with either the DoJ or SEC.
So what do you think would happen if ActivisionBlizzard buys out Square-Enix?
I’ll be sad because I see it as death for my beloved Final Fantasy franchise. SE and Activision Blizzard are just too different in their corporate culture, IMO.
If this is true, it’s bad for WoW and FF14 Players.
And the game industry in general. The companies have now become so large they can compete by other means like buying up innovation or competition that actually threatens them.
yeah, but ive seen companies deny sales, up until the moment its announced they were sold. the 2 right off the top of my head, Pride Fighting Championships. Rumors of Yakuza ties, then lost their tv deals in Japan, someone asked if they were going to be sold to the UFC. Pride laughed it off and said no, we will get thru this, soon after, UFC buys out Pride. and then when the UFC was sold, rumors kept swirling and swirling, UFC denied it was even entertaining offers, even sent out a memo to employees saying dont worry, we are not selling to anyone. like a week later, UFC sold for over $4 billion.
im not saying they will 100% be sold, but a company with rumors of being sold, saying they arent selling… doesnt mean they arent being sold either.
They would probably ruin FF14, would not be happy.
What about on the flipside? They could make WoW more like FF14.
So they would ruin FF too? Do they realize people don’t have to play this type of MMO?
No they couldn’t - they literally would need to have a new game engine to take anything of value from FF.
So what do you think would happen if ActivisionBlizzard buys out Square-Enix?
What a big fish always does.
Eats the smaller fish.
First, at the corporate level, there would a number of layoffs and restructuring due to redundant positions. Then most likely A-B would conduct an in depth assessment of S-E’s in flight and planned projects. From there, the true absorption of S-E into the A-B culture would begin.
If it can be streamlined and monetized, it will.
If it can be adapted for more repeatable gameplay with fewer developers, it will.
If they can merge tech/teams to reduce costs, they will.
Ultimately gamers will lose while shareholders win. Consolidation in the marketplace reduces competition and the quality of product
