With all the posts here that indicate the delay was a good idea, why is the stock dropping?
why do we care about stocks? We’re the consumers not the financial advisers.
is this really a surprise to anyone really? you delayed a big selling point of the year.
Was it a good idea financially for Activision/Blizzard? Probably not.
Was it a good idea for the expansion, the game and the players’ future experience in the expansion? Absolutely. And that’s the thing that matters most to us.
Don’t know, don’t care. I’d prefer to have a complete product in my hands with as few bugs as possible, not a higher arbitrary number that doesn’t impact my personal life one bit.
So yeah, it was still a good idea.
Well they just delayed one of their two biggest upcoming games. It’ll hurt financially for a bit, but if it makes the expansion that much better they can potentially do well later.
Stocks fluctuate.
Generally speaking short term losses happen. Long term figures are far more important.
In the last month their stock value has decreased from $83.45 to $78.70.
When you look at year to date though? $58.65 to that $78.70.
So, how do you think the company is doing?
It could be other games are in the calculation and NOT the angst of a vocal minority of those salty about a delay to release a solid product. While yes something is coming out for CoD people are still feeling the burnout from military shooters and as one has said before me, stocks fluctuate regardless. They go up,go down and often up again.
Stocks merely indicate the short shortsightedness of business men that don’t understand that quality increases value. Quality increases player base and player retention. Quality increase SUBSCRIPTIONS. Subscriptions = money.
A year ago their stock was $52. Today it is $78. I think they are doing okay. Remember when people were saying the company was going out of business when their stock was in the $30 range last summer? Yeah…
Spoken like someone who has never invested in the stock market.
Because stockholders generally don’t like to hear about delayed products.
As a stockholder in other companies, I completely understand this.
I, as a non ATVI holder, do not care as it has $0 effect on me. The market has also been reacting to the news that the POTUS has COVID-19.
All the stockholding is, is a glorified gambling system.
Trump has covid. I read it caused a small dip in the markets. Its possibly related.
I wouldnt sweat price fluctuations, personally. I never do and I never lose money on my investments.
Announcing the expansion launch about 2/3 of the way through their 3rd quarter, and then delaying it on the first day of their fourth quarter was almost certainly a financially advantageous move for them.
They’re banking on their numbers recovering from the inevitable post delay dip, before they have to release their 4th quarter numbers sometime in January.
I’ve owned acti/blizz stock for a while now and in that time its become clear that people look to the stock when a choice is made that they disagree with. It is used for clickbait titles and youtube thumbnails anytime it has a slight dip that coincides with a hot topic among the community. With CoD and Shadowlands both releasing this holiday season i expect to see a nice boost in price.
Exacty.
Which is why day to day, week to week prices arent really meaningful.
My investments fluctuate all the time. I just stopped paying much attention unless I see a huge change so I can either dump some or buy more.
BRB gonna go buy me some activison stock, that way i can at least complain legitimately since I’ll own a part of the company.
