Activision is abandoning wow?

Definitely not, it’s still grossing some incredible numbers and any company would be stupid to just stop supporting it.

It’s the first raid tier; I can’t think of a single WoW expansion that “just worked” on the first tier, one of the downsides of constantly poking and prodding classes and then quickly releasing the game.

Someone’s main apparently got nerfed. lol

lol. If you look at the trend of posts on the forums back in Vanilla, the devs were elitist snobs who hated the players.

Nearly nobody liked the dev team until years after they’d moved on to other things when they were retroactively made “THE DEVS WHO REALLY CARED ABOUT THE GAME AND HAD PASSION YOU GUYS”

The point: the forums are a bad joke.

Hey OP, what do you call this?
https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/world-of-warcraft/23580183/hotfixes-january-13-2021

Looks like patches, balances, fixes, and communication nearly every day since launch except during the Christmas break.
What do you want? A dev to give you a phone call to let you know whats up?

I mean, you’re not wrong.

It’s worth noting that even fastest is an accounting trick. They basically count all the pre-orders as sales but on launch day IIRC. So even that is dubious marketing speak at best.

We just got a patch yesterday?

Right. Its not completely insane to think that people who cared enough to buy the game months in advance would have bought it on launch day.

Eh… it’s stretching the truth. Personally I’m not a fan of such accounting tricks. Particularly when it’s just a marketing stunt.

I will say that there has been no meaningful communication from Blizzard at all on any level about any major issues with Shadowlands since beta.

No discussion of Legendary buffs or balance, lots of dead or garbage legendaries.

No acknowledgement of the state of specs like Mistweaver.

No discussion about any concerns of basically any spec.

No acknowledgement about the trash state of anima gain and costs across the game.

No discussion of the state of M+ loot or rewards.

No acknowledgement of almost any PvP feedback in years, and the one dude we knew worked on PvP left the company.

edit to add: No comment on holy paladins. Was it intended to push them so hard into melee? Did they just not get around to balancing other talents and legendaries to make other playstyles viable? Throughout all of beta and now live not so much as a comment on their design goal and direction for the spec.

Sounds more like you should probably think about playing a game you like instead of paying for one you do not enjoy.

That’s still a lot of preorders, meaning a lot of money in their pocket. We could argue about whether or not it’s superlatively successful, but it’s definitely successful enough to keep investing in.

you guys do realize that we are still in lockdown here in so cal right? i live 30 min from blizzard so i know 100% that they are not business as usual yet.

An entire department dedicated to supporting players might beg to differ with your assessment.

LOL. What? GTA5, Skyrim - hell even Cyberpunk sold 16 million in the first two days and it’s a broken mess (granted, some of those sales were for console - which most have been returned).

I doubt SL is even the best selling WOW expansion. If I remember right, the peak of this game was WotLK. I remember BC being a big hot though (I think the game had like 12 million active players?). Cata lost some, WOD lost many, Panda gained, Legion gained, and BFA lost many.

SL is ok. It’s way better then BfA but can’t touch Legion, Panda, or WotLK, or even BC.

I still like WOW. But not as much as I used to like the game. And it’s changed over the years… it’s always been a grindy game… but now with so many systems in place to waste time its worse then ever.

Right at the top of the forum is a thread about the hotfixes they applied two days ago my man… I might not be happy with the game but lying about the devs working is not a good look.

Everything in your post is blatantly false

  • People playing good ‘classes’ (specs?) are still leaving too, people playing bad classes are staying as well.

  • Balance patches happen regularly but larger issues require a major content patch, so that’ll be 9.1.

  • Bugs are fixed near weekly, though if you mean something in old content you’ll have to be the squeeky wheel and bug report it daily until it gets fixed… like I did for Highmountain’s flight form not having a sound file attached.

  • Communication is poor, absolutely… but it does exist.

  • BfA had support from Blizzard… they spent the better part of 18 months trying to polish the turd that was all things azerite. Sure they made the problem and were told it wouldn’t work ahead of time… but that isn’t a blizzard problem, that’s a design and ego problem which comes from the top.

Don’t try to pin these issues on all of the devs… many of them are just doing their job as best as they can with the instructions they’re given. Only one person (maybe two) deserves the heat for BfA and the future of SLs. He’s probably churning out ideas for SLs as we speak to try and prove Legion wasn’t a fluke.

“Fastest” selling… not highest or most. When Cyberpunk released it destroyed that claim. Though 3.7 million units globally in one day is about 2 million more than I figured were playing this game still.

CD Projekt's investor relations has now shared some early sales statistics for Cyberpunk 2077, revealing the game managed to shift a total of 8m pre-orders across all platforms.

This.

:heavy_plus_sign:

I get the game has its flaws but what’s with all the Polygon levels of clickbait title threads lately? Kinda makes you look misleading OP.

You realize they posted not even two days ago patch notes after posting 3 days before that as they worked on balance tweeks?
