Activision GM the new President of Blizzard

Mike didn’t develop Dragonflight, lol. Do you people even know what a CEO does?

Nope, she was still with the NFL league office when that game launched.

I agree… but I was more interested in DiB thought as he seems to care just a bit too much.

D4 is a good casual game. Not a good hardcore game though. Doesn’t deserve a 2.2, but a 4-5 would be more reasonably imho. POE2 will bless us.

D4 has the framework to be an amazing game, it just needs… a serious update… and not just a “omg new expansion for $90 that fixes everything!!!”. Its a beautiful game, amazing combat…

It needs a huge fix and it could be a great game IMO

ill post this here
so let me get this right
the forums were asking for tenders to be added to the shop for a year now
and were might a big might be getting MTX and you are getting mad

Given her background:

  • Spent 12 years working in the NFL before being hired by Blizzard
  • Commissioner of COD’s eSports
  • Senior Vice President of Leagues

I’m foreseeing even harder pushes to make Blizzard games into eSports than before. AWC, MDI, and RWF are going to be the focus even more, I think.

Interesting theory. The NFL stuff was all promotional though. She was in charge of getting new fans and marketing.

It has almost nothing to do with the actual sports side of the league.

New president didn’t mention WoW in her tweet, so “the sky is in fact, falling” according to GD.

Questionable. and quite honestly DF was in full design before he became President… So what influence he had on it would have been part of his old position. Also he didn’t become President until February of 2022, before then he a co-leader with Jen Oneal who left because Mike was getting paid more for the same position.

I wonder if live services games are doomed to mediocrity because of this.

The dude has no clue.

“Live services” are always just skinner box garbage.

They get credit when things go well and blame when they dont.

Amazing you cant answer the question. Is blizzard better off now or when he joined in 2021?

If the answer is “yes” then he did a good job. Its simple as that.

Worse, sold less copies than SL

Because of him… directly… No

Well, my thoughts include DLCs of the past. Like, that was important too. DLCs were at least optional. But now DLCs are entirely used to make the original box price go down, but generating more revenue. (Buy 1, get the next 50% off.) → $30 + $15 = $45. But their costs of development might reflect a $20/box price, and the DLC was maybe $3 because it was using existing tools.

Raise your hand if you believe Mike Morhaime had direct influence at any point in WoW’s development. Like, in the creative/writing room supervising the developers.

“Sold copies” mean nothing for an MMO. SL sold off of hype and was quickly abandoned by the player base. Lowest retention ever. Meanwhile Dragonflight has the highest retention for many many years.

It’s hard to win people back after SL literally almost killed the game. One good expansion isn’t enough to do that.
