Activision Blizzard IT Worker Secretly Filmed Colleagues in Office Bathroom

In 2018, a former Activision Blizzard IT worker installed cameras in the company’s Minnesota office bathroom with the intent to spy on employees while they used the toilet, according to court records reviewed by Waypoint and local media reports from the time.

He was tried in court and found guilty. It sounds like this was handled appropriately

Only thing to say now is the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

They were thinking of doing just that at the company i worked because of production , but they never did. There are somethings that just need to be left private.

Jesus, Blizzard. I know you think you own your employees or something but they are allowed to poop on the company dime.

1st of all, ANY major company is going to have bad apples.

Second, maybe include the actual report rather than the tweet of the bad stuff?

A detective went to the Activision Blizzard offices the next day: “Management informed him that an employee had found two cameras in the unisex bathroom there, which were installed under the sinks,” court documents said. “Management then removed the cameras and sent them to their office in Santa Monica, CA for analysis.”

The Eden Prairie detective inspected the bathrooms and realized “the cameras had been mounted in a manner to point at the toilet.” During Activision Blizzard’s investigation, it discovered that Nixon shopped for micro SD cards, waterproof camcorders, and battery packs that worked with the cameras found in the bathrooms.

Activision found these, investigated, reported it to the police and the guy was charged. What more do you want? Blizzard promptly invented a time machine and went back to catch him in the act!

Good lord man, this wasn’t a company thing, it was some pervert who they reported to police when they found them.

Activision.

Both are crappy companies, but let’s try and keep them straight.

And no, Activision/Blizzard is not the same as Activision and Blizzard.

A random employee* that was fired and charged. How about NOT trying to burn them at the stake when they actually did the right thing?

this kind of thing is probably way more common than we think, you can hide tiny cameras super well these days. really disgusting to do it though, glad they were caught. disturbing to think about what they do with that kind of footage once they get it

This line actually reminds me of a story where someone’s supervisor followed her to the bathroom and timed how long it took her to do her business, then wrote her up for taking longer than two minutes. Like…not everyone’s bodies function that efficiently, and also you WANT your employees to wash their hands, right???

Well, because our justice system sucks he didn’t initially go to jail because his sentence was suspended.

But then he was nice enough to violate parole, which likely did have him spend some time in jail

Abuses like this are why workers unionize.

Yup and the adults dealt with it. No one had to cry or scream or protest because as I said the grown ups handled it.
