Activision blizzard games coming to gamepass

Either way since ABK corporate is super reactionary when doing things, I fully expect WoW to be on consoles in a couple months, since FFXIV is currently doing an open beta on xbox atm.

FF14 was built with consoles in mind from the start, a little bit harder for WoW, especially when you factor in addon support.

I will say, I believe the controller system Square made for 14 is open source so technically Blizzard could use it if they went that route one day.

I think bringing wow to console is very doable.

Tho Sabbia brings up a great point addons! I completely forgot about that. There is a lot QoL the base game needs before I could imagine it being ready, and to be frank the game feels a bit of a mess in retail, new players are probably overwhelmed and confused to what’s going on. There’s 25+ years of lore to catch up on .

Osrs going mobile been good, and imo that game needs addons LOL

We’ll have to see tho, maybe the next 3 expansions will have a lot more focus on streamlining new player experience better and updating new game tools. They’re taking steps towards that but definitely not there yet.

They could go the Bethesda route that have dedicated mod support for console/pc (love or hate, it’s there lol).

Haha naw, I just don’t want to deal with the potential issues of someone not being able to perform because of their input device.

We expected this. I’m more interested if I can spend bnet balance on microsoft/xbox games.

I think they would do it how it works (I believe) with ESO, which is also owned by Microsoft.

First, create a version of the game playable on console. Then, make it available via console. However, each version is entirely separate, they don’t interact at all. If you create a chareacter on the gamepass version, you would never see it in your PC version, because they absolutely separate games.

Here is the difference between the console and PC version of ESO:

  • UI redesign. The Console design matches previous Elder Scrolls games such as Skyrim, which was optimized for consoles.
  • Controls. The control scheme for consoles is optimized for TVs and to take advantage of the controllers.
  • You can select Emotes directly from your menu and assign them to a quick slot on your radial menu.
  • Console version has Voice Chat
  • Console version features a Group Finder, that allows you to find a group based on “any”, level, dungeon and difficulty.
  • Console has no Add-Ons
  • Console version is region-locked for DLC and Expansions
  • Console Eso Plus is more expensive than PC Eso Plus

Obvious differences to WoW since but you can get a picture from that of what they had to do.

I really hope it goes to Game Pass. Maybe this way there’d be a great influx of players even.

I dont believe you would see any new players.

Since a console version of WoW would be different in many ways, its unlikely they would be paying a sub and playing the same game as we do. If its on the gamepass it would be a console-centric game with a completely different UI, no access to things like add ons, probably some game aspects unavailable and so on. It would be effectively like they didnt exist, for PC players.

It doesn’t mean there should be a console version of WoW since there’s a PC version of the gamepass.

The PC gamepass cost is approx $10 a month. If they put it on that, they’d be losing money. Not sure that would be attractive.

If they do it’ll be with an agenda in mind. And i’m willing to bet it won’t be , but “those people will end up buying cosmetics”

What do they do about expansions? Do people on gamepass have to pay for those in other games?

Here’s hoping for WoW on Gamepass.

Sure it will. It will make WoW the best deal in gaming. You pay $10, and you get 400+ other games that come with it.

Yes

Considering how hard they are going with the microtransactions I don’t that really matters. It’ll also probably bring in a lot more players that could easily offset this.

they forgot overwatch 2.

So did everyone else.

Nah, it comes and remind us every once in a while… and not for the most flattering of reasons.

Im pretty sure MS is gonna move to cloud gaming and quit the console market. I also hope they add wow to their gamepass cause that would be an easy yearly sub from me. They’ll probably add it into a tiered subscription eventually.
